After a year and a half, it died

I've had this phone for a year and a half and it's now pretty much useless. It crashes constantly. Usually when I'm trying to use an app, but now just a text message will send it over the edge. Then it won't reboot - saying it has no battery - until I plug it in. I've taken good care of it, so I don't understand why something that costs this much money should last only 1.5 years.
Even more annoying, I'm a loyal T-Mobile customer and I really don't want to buy another Samsung, but if I want 4G and Android, that's pretty much my only option. This has been a very disappointing experience.
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've was a iphone user for three iphone generations and every iphone I had was stolen- NOT LOST! Stolen. So, I went to find a phone not so delicious in the eyes of a thief & retain as much of the user experience I had.
My first choice was the Samsung Note. I got "warm" inside then realized a thief would have the same response. So I went down to the cheaper Galaxy II 4G. In the store I loved it; made a bit smaller than the iphone & was actually a better fit for my hand while doing one-hand texting.
One week had passed & I was so MAD at the designer for putting the ON/OFF button in presumably easiest spot which I will call "the index finger position" when holding it in my left hand. This seems acceptable however; putting the volume button directly across from it was the maddening part. What happens, is a "squeeze" or press one of either button you inadvertently compress the other. Thus your phone turns off when trying to raise the volume or you unknowingly maladjust the volume when you hit the other button. Its so bad that even simple touch screen functions while gripping your phone compresses the areas as well. PLEASE FIX THIS. Otherwise, Its never been ripped off from me and has been a reliable and supremely durable phone selection for me.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: placement of buttons poor, reverse camera functionality very poor
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Decent Mid-Range Device

This was my second Android device and the first without a physical QWERTY keyboard. I had intended to use it solely as a backup phone as my Sidekick 4G was still functioning well enough when I acquired it. But it quickly became my primary phone after I had had enough of the former's tendency towards glitching/freezing.
First, size. The size was just right for me. Not too big, yet not too small, and just right to see videos on Youtube in comfort.
Secondly, value. This was toted as a budget/mid-range phone towards the end of its shelf life by T-Mobile, and it does not disappoint in that area. It comes pre-bundled with all a ton of apps and games that you're bound to find something you'll like. My personal favorite was Bejeweled Blitz.
All in all, this was a good phone for what it is. The only downside is that you'll need an older SIM card (not the newer nano ones) for this phone if you wish to use it. Once I upgraded, I no longer had a use for it.
I've had it for over two years, and the Android software was never able to upgrade. other than that, it's been the best phone i've ever had, no blackberry or other phone has ever lasted me this long!
