Express Cook buttons are my only complaint

Have been enjoying this microwave for a few months now with no major complaint. The only downfalls are the light underneath is not bright, and the express cook buttons take getting used to. The express cook option is one that is commonly found on microwaves now, requiring you to push 'time cook' before entering a specific time such as two minutes 45 seconds requires pushing buttons in this order...time cook,2,4,5, start. However if you forget and just start pushing in 2,4,5 you will start the microwave for 2 minutes, 3 starts for 3 minutes etc. This just takes getting used to.

Functions well as microwave and vent

We have been using this appliance for about 6 weeks. It operates well. It's nice to have a light which shines on the cooking surface of the range below. First time I have had an over range microwave which functions as hood vent also. It's a bit noisy, but that may be because of the need to act as a vent.

New version of model not as good

Bought and installed this product this month. The installation (performed by a mechanical engineer) was not very simple, the template is too flimsy to be used accurately and you need an oversized drill bit, but it's doable. The microwave itself has a full inch of extra unneeded door that hangs down and makes the space between the oven and micro seem crammed. The reason I rated this microwave a 3 is because a fan (separate from vent fan) turns on every time you use the microwave regardless of what you're cooking. The fan is very loud and unnecessary. We had the old version of the microwave and loved it. The design, to include button placement, has regressed. This is disappointing as I am usually quite fond of GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We really like this model and it works great but when it comes to using the (Air Vent), both High and Low are running at the same speed.
