This is the second system I've bought this year. The first is located at a 5 unit rental property in FL the other is in MD. Both are working fine. Neither are set up for remote internet access at this time. Good quality for the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simply Awesome Security System!!

We bought this system and installed it yesterday. It was so easy to install the cameras and they work perfectly!! Very sharp pictures- even at night. The only problems were in configuring the network so we could monitor it via our computer or smart phone. I called today for support and in less than 5 minutes it is working perfectly!! We spent thousands of dollars a few years ago on a different system at our previous residence and the resolution was not nearly this good!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent system. Cameras are clear. However, setting up the system was not exactly easy. Connecting the cameras to the DVR and the DVR to my home router and setting up the software was much easier by comparison and took much less time than did the physical installation. I started and completed the project in a few hours and most of my time was spent installing the cameras and routing the cables

Love the system; good buy for the price

I purchase this on 11/3/2015; waited to review until I got everything working [remote viewing, e-mail notification, cell phone viewing app]. System included everything to complete installation. Hardest part was running wires in the attic but I am glad it is not wireless [Comcast wireless security systems are being hacked]. Had issues setting up remote because I was not using “Internet Explorer”; “Chrome” and “Microsoft Edge” will not work [This should be noted in set-up instructions] Had problems with email notification but Defender Customer Service was a big help in getting email to work. Power supply for cameras failed in less than a week; Defender Customer Service trouble shot it with me and sent out a new power supply within 3 days no charge. The system is everything you want from remote viewing, e-mail notification, and easy set-up.

I recently purchased the 21159 system as an upgrade to my current system which is a 21173 that is still under warranty but is now a discontinued model. I have had two occasions to contact Customer Service and both times I was quite pleased with the outcomes. I was provided an extended warranty after the first contact and upgraded replacement cameras after my second contact as the cameras for the 21173 system were no longer available. As it turns out, the replacement cameras were identical to those in the 21159 system I had just purchased. Based on the reviews of the 21159 and comparable models I am excited for the weather to warm up a little so I can mount the new system cameras and DVR.

Received my system as a gift. Love it. Like the views and the Clear Vu app.Easy to install. Had a little trouble connecting to iphone. Contacted customer support. Michel gave outstanding assistance and skillfully guided us through the steps to success.

I purchased this in Dec 2015 after researching many systems in this price range. Final decision to buy was based on reviews over many websites. Very happy with the quality of dvr and cameras. Quality of video is better than I was expecting based on other reviews. Setup was fairly easy. I had one problem with recording only motion video which was resolved easily by email with customer support. I have had it installed less than a month, but so far a very happy customer.
I would recommend this to a friend!
