Great system, great support, great value.

Installed this system 7 months ago. The greatest thing is when your away from home and you can check your cameras from your phone. And when you hear that strange sound outside you can just check your cameras from inside. Used to have to grab the big maglight and slip around outside like a ninja looking for an intruder. Great piece of mind.

I've had this system only 2 weeks but everything is working perfectly. So easy to set up, installation was a breeze. Picture quality is very good. I am very pleased to have purchased this system it covers my entire outside of my home. even though this is the model number mine came with a 1tb HHD which is plenty.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to install

Installed a week ago. This is my 4th system and I have to say installation and set up was very easy compared to my previous system. I live in high crime area and it provides me with a clear picture of what is going on around the perimeter of my property. Also I messed up on inputting a password and the customer service is phenomenal. They are patient, pleasant, and loaded with foresight regarding the needs of a middle aged woman.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great System For The Price

We purchased a used unit with 4 cameras. Decided to add 2 more cameras but after checking pricing (just cameras) decided better value to buy this complete system ($150 more for 4 extra cameras + the 2T hard drive.
System easy to install and good picture quality. Tech support (contacted them on the first purchase) is great and answers all questions.
It comes with 8 65' camera cables, we ordered several 150' cables for the longer runs and those cameras have the same clear picture as the shorter cables. We also connected two of the 65' cables together (bnc connectors) with the same picture quality.
We wanted to cover the entire back of our 5,000 sq. ft. building but the only place to mount the cameras was 14' above ground. During the day the picture is fine but in night mode the view is reduced by 50% (the instructions recommend mounting 8' or less from the ground). We also placed 2 cameras at the gate entrance (6' above ground) and these work great in night mode.
For the price this system is great!

It's working perfectly, the colors are vibrant even in videos shot during the night, we can see everyone that comes towards our home.

Basic beginner system--poor-to-fair video

I bought this as a replacement for a previous 16 channel defender system--where 12 of the cameras died and the remaining 4 are on their last leg. 4 cameras were replaced by Defender. 8 were replaced by my credit-card extended warranty. I wanted this system for the 8 cameras but the spare DVR is a bonus because the 16 channel DVR has failed once too. Not to hard to setup if you are a computer geek--if not you'll have some hurdles with router and IP ports to view over the web. If you want a wired system with poor to fair video quality and limited life...go for it. Defender was good about warranty replacements but I want a longer life and more reliable system. As soon as the warranty is up on this one I'm off to another brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this set-up about a month ago, kinda looks intimidating by everything in the boxes. I took it one step at a time and found it was easily installed,there are many videos from defender on youtube. I am a paper type manual kind of guy, but it was so simple I review a couple steps in the online manual and viola before I knew it I was done. The picture quality to me is very good, and the night vision is also very good. My entire property is watched by defender cameras and I feel a much greater level of security for my family. I have it split into two locations to physically watch it, in my office at home and in my bedroom. Cameras are easy to set up. I had a problem with 3 of the cameras night vision at first but simply unplugging them for 10-15 seconds each remedied the issue. My first video security system I have ever dealt with so as a novice, this set-up was a pleasure...
