Pleasantly Surprised

I looked at several Camera Systems before I ordered this Defender wide screen system. The instructions for set up were simple and to the point. I had absolutely no issues installing the system and using the software. It took a few calls to Support to get the parameters of the software installed properly but the first time I saw the pictures on the monitor, I was pleasantly surprised to see the clarity and color of the pictures. Most other systems were fuzzy and unclear unlike the cameras in this system. Overall, I would say this is best system for my house I could find made today.

I owned a Defender SN301 8Ch that ran continuously for 2 years. My neighborhood had 2 auto break-ins. I have remote viewing on my cell phone. I happen to catch 2 shady people parked in my driveway with no one home. We called the police and long story short they had stolen property in their vehicle and the vehicle was also stolen. We provided the police with footage of the suspects and who was driving the stolen vehicle. After that incident I wanted to upgrade to better resolution. I decided to get the 21160 8ch. I was already a fan of Defender since my SN301 has been running continuous record for 2 years. I got a really great deal on the new system and I had no issues with installation. Networking wasn't an issue since I already had the IP address and Port Forwarding set from the previous system (Cox Internet). I use Defender Clear Vu for android on my cell phone. No issues with setup and had remote viewing running in minutes. I like the remote playback feature of the app. I can view a recording on my phone instead of having to wait to get home to look up the recording. I love the color and quality of the new cameras right out of the box. I personally did not have to make any picture adjustments. Night vision is ALOT better than my older system. My neighbors have purchased cheaper systems that can not touch the performance I get from this system. I am very satisfied with my purchase and hope to get some years out of this system unless I decide to upgrade again ;)

Excellent Product -- Defender 21161

I've recently had items missing from my property. I decided to get this surveillance system because of the storage capacity, expandability, and the excellent reviews it had. I'm glad I did. Running the wires was the most difficult part. After that the setup was pretty easy. I like the fact that I can monitor from my cell phone anywhere that I'm at. My family does alot of camping and this will sure make it easier to FINALLY be able to relax and enjoy camping instead of wondering whats going on at home. I like the extended warranty option. The color of the cameras, day and night, are sharp and clear. I plan on purchasing more cameras in the future to cover any blind spots. I will continuously update this review as needed.

I I bought this Pro widescreen System about 9 months ago .System was easy to install and I now have it linked to my smart-phone .With a 2 TB DVR I leave it recording 24-7 .System is a great value and they have great support.

Excellent Product

I bought 2 of these units. I replaced my 16 camera unit with these and they are so much better. You can't beat the 800's. Picture quality is great and setup is easy. The WS is very chrisp and covers a lot of area. Very happy with the Sentinel PRO Widescreen 21161 16CH Security DVR System. I'm glad I purchased 2 units. I used one of the recievers for my old 600 cameras and it made them better. The extra 1 year warranty Defender offers is great. I am going to purchase another 8 camera unit for another location. This product is the best and would recommend it to everyone as a great unit for any security project. The customer service is excellent and very helpful.

Easy setup, unadvertised bonus digital inputs

Simple intuitive interface, easy setup, external networking can be tricky but that is the nature of networking and not the products fault. Very happy to find DVR had 4 audio inputs, 1 audio output and an array of RS485 inputs! Disappointed to find remote viewing app doesn't support 2 way audio. Hoping this will become a software feature in the future seeing that it's standard now on cheap ip camera apps. So far very happy with product

Very happy with this system .Took very little time to run wires,which by the way were plenty long enough. Hooking up all wires to DVR and monitor was a snap...Im impressed with the DVD tutorial...Very helpful with setup...All in All i really couldn't ask for a better system for the price...Thank you Defender . I will always call on you for my surveilliance needs .

I recently bought the Defender Pro Sentinel 8 channel. I was having difficulty setting up my computer to view video footage so I sent an email to technical support and received a phone call from Michel within 24 hours. Michel was able to determine that my security setting were preventing the downloads to work and was able to fix the problem in a timely manner. He was very professional, patient and courteous, thanks again...
