Great Product; Amazing Warranty

Just got a 40L butterfly as a replacement for a 38L that we already had for about 10 year. I contacted Simplehuman to see if I can get a replacement part to fix an issue with the closing mechanism. They did not have the part available so the company sent me a whole new trash can.
This product has been the attention point when we have friends and family over. Every one love the way it opens hands free and the quiet way it closes.

At last!!

We have previously suffered through sensor-opening kitchen garbage cans in the recent past. One need only walk past to have the lid open and fan the stench of the kitchen garbage throughout the room, the batteries fell out, needed to be replaced often, and the sensor did not work if something got dribbled onto it. However, with our new butterfly step-can, we don't have to swipe a hand over a sensor! Both hands are free to drop garbage into the can thanks to the step-can mechanism. It is sturdy, quiet, closes quickly and quietly, keeps the dog out, and does not unnecessarily fan bad odors into the kitchen. The removable plastic can inside is awesome too, as it makes for easy removal of the trash liner. Place a new liner in, drop the can back in, and it's done! It wipes up easily, doesn't leave fingerprints, and looks nice. We are very happy with this product and feel the price has totally been worth it.

Improvement may be impossible

We have had this wonderful device in kitchen use for quite a while. It is perfect, operates flawlessly. Bag changes are easy. Attractive in a low-key way that fits in. The way things are going, it looks like this may be the last kitchen trash can we ever need!

While it was expensive, this trash can is awesome! We love the butterfly opening, which is a big reason we ordered it. It looks great and will last on long time. I highly recommend this to anyone!

Nice upgrades...

We had our first butterfly step can in black for over 10 years and it served us well. I would have kept it, despite the obvious wear and tear, if I had been able to get a replacement part. But maybe it's better this way... I like the tilting feature so I don't have to lift the interior part out to change the bag. (I just use regular kitchen garbage bags, not simplehuman brand.) And being able to hold the top open without stepping on it is very convenient. For the price, if it lasts us another 10 years I will be ecstatic. Great product.
