I keep my can under an overhang on my kitchen island, and a step can with a regular swing lid doesn’t have enough clearance to fully open under the countertop. The butterfly lid is the perfect solution, and I wouldn’t be satisfied without it. I have had this can for 15 years, at least! It was finally time to replace it, and I was so afraid it wouldn’t still be available - but it was! So happy to have the new, shiny, quiet can in place.

I got this trash can because of a friend I often visit that has one. It's a great design and perfect for fitting in the space between my fridge and cabinet. I just moved into my second apartment and knew I had to have one. Trash cans don't get better than this!

Best Trash Can Ever

I never thought I would spend this much on a trash can but it has been worth every penny. Our dog loves to get in the trash and we have tried multiple trash cans and none worked as well as we had hoped. This one keeps the dog out and looks great in our kitchen. I like that when I'm cooking I can open it without touching it with my hands. It stays much cleaner. Highly recommend!

Perfect Under-Counter!

I had been searching long and hard for a 45L step-open kitchen garbage can that could fit under the overhang of my island countertop. I cannot believe how perfect the 45L Butterfly Step Can is! For the first few days after we got it, my whole family just stood around stepping and admiring! It is VERY difficult to find a can whose lid does not bang loudly into the counter-top when opened. But now my search is over, and I will be eternally grateful to Simplehuman for making such a well-crafted, perfet can. Thank you!
