super efficient

This is our second simplehuman garbage can. I needed to downsize so we gave our large can to our daughter with her larger family. We love the new dual compartment one but don't understand why the larger blue recycling container takes the white H bags instead of the blue ones. It makes more sense to me to have the blue bags in the blue container and the white ones in the regular garbage container. Was a nurse for 45 years and think that it would have been more logical. Any reason for this? Otherwise I love the can and have more space. My daughter is enjoying our old, but like brand new can .

Both our code H and code V liners are available in white, blue and clear. This means that you can use whichever color for either container that best suits your needs.

Unfortunately the garbage section of this can is too small. In simple terms the "mouth" of the area for regular garbage is too small and makes it difficult to "throw away" trash easily. The garbage area is long (HT) and narrow so a good deal of space is wasted when you throw away larger items. The larger items block smaller items to go past them. You end up with what I will call a lot of "air pockets" In general I LOVE simplehuman garbage cans. This particular one is not practical or functional.

This can is designed so that each compartment can be used for whichever purpose (trash or recycling), depending on your preference.

Good, not great

I was looking for a trash can with dual compartments for recycling and trash. This model is very good, not great. Ideally, for my purposes, it could use a little bit larger trash compartment. The can looks great, and functions flawlessly thus far. My biggest issue with the product is that for the trash compartment; it requires specialized bags, which are not cheap. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

The buckets of our 46 litre dual compartment can feature a bag tuck opening which makes them work perfectly with non-custom fit can liners. Any excess plastic may be tucked through the bag tuck to ensure that it is neat and secure on the buckets.

The only shortcoming is the top doesn't fit tightly. In our case we're using the larger bin for garbage, and the smaller for compost. It would be good if the top closed tighter over both.
