Really disappointed - Too limited, no upgrade path

I was given my Galaxy Tab as a gift and I was really excited about it. Its was my first Android device and I was looking for a better product than my iPad
The look and feel is impressive, packaging and presentation was good too. The interface (android version) is a bit slow, stuttering and flaky. To an extent I expected this, but knew that newer versions were coming.
I did not know, and neither did my wife who bought my gift, that the GT P1010 is a stripped down and limited version of the GT P1000, and it cannot be upgraded. This means that many new software titles won't work, or won't work properly.
I was also looking forward using the tab to present, hooking up to a big monitor. I bought the video cable to do this. Only to find that the video chip has been dumbed down on this model and it won't output to another screen.
All in all I feel disappointed in the product, and I feel very let down by Samsung. This is not a budget disposable item, it really should be the case that within 4 months of purchase my model is unable to use the latest software.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display

Nice 7 inch tablet

I have had this tablet now for over six months and during that period I have not had any problems with the hardware or software. No resets, but sometimes the tablet hangs and I just have to let it sit a few minutes and it will take care of itself.
For being the first Samsung 7 inch tablet, I think stills represent a good value for anyone looking for that size of device.
The built is solid. It feels like something that you can be rough with and it will handle the treatment. I use a leather case, and when closed it feels just like a paperback and I can put it in my cargo pockets and move on.
It is a great device if you are on the road a lot, on subways, trains, buses, etc. This tablet has a fantastic screen and super vivid colors. Very easy on the eyes when reading books or email.
My only complaint with Samsung and this device is that it has not gotten an upgrade since it came out in 2010. But I am still hoping that at least Samsung will remember the people that bought their first tablet and at least give us android 2.3.

Horrible Battery Life and an OLD operating system.

I bought this thinking it would be a great development companion. What i got was a tablet that once fully charged (a process that takes almost a full day of work) only lasts a day and a half, EVEN IF I AM NOT USING IT!
Cons: Did not meet expectations, terrible battery life, doesn't run newer android os
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After 2 days of using this product, I was impressed at the functionality and speed this little computer brings. With all the tablets out there, particullary in comparison with the Apple IPAD, I love that this tablet is compact and just as powerful for the way I use it.
Gaming is great and very responsive as well as accessing applications with a touch of a finger. Video is fast without much pausing and image quality id superb.

Great for a starter tablet

If you want a starter tablet, this is for you because it is a way to get you introduced to two things at once: tablets and the Android OS. When it was introduced quite a while ago, the Galaxy Tab was only at this size of 7.0" which made it perfect for travel in larger pockets and it's easy enough to hold in one hand. Since it required more power, the tablet was faster than almost all smart phones at the time and Android runs smoothly on it. Look for this or the Plus version if you want a tablet that is small and powerful.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, more portable
Cons: Not high def
I would recommend this to a friend!

Another Outstanding Samsung Product!

First my wife and I purchased a Samsung LED TV. Then a Samsung Blu-ray player. And now, the Samsung Galaxy Wifi Tab has found a home with us!
I've done my homework on this one too. I've read the reviews, watched videos about it and played with it at the store before purchasing it. This tablet is fantastic!
The 7" size is just right. The crisp resolution, the many, many features and the price made this purchase a no-brainer.
I'm glad to see that the wifi only version is now available for those of us who don't want or need 3G or 4G.

No UPGRADES

The product is quite well, but I don't recommend it because there is no upgrade even for gingerbread 2.3, no think about honeycome. I think this tablet if don't get upgrades will be out of the market too fast.

Cons: Not high def, Did not meet expectations, no upgrades, less characteristics that the one with 3g
