Beautiful but not impressed with the actual dish cleaning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dishwasher has been a disappointment. For the price paid I would have expected to be able to load it to full capacity and it would do its job. You really must rinse your dishes before loading this washer and even then a few may come out dirty. In addition, loading it to full capacity will inevitably result in a few dishes needing to be rewashed.
We have had service come out to look at it and they told us it is working normally but it is not a garbage disposer and you need to rinse the dishes before loading (which we were doing already). Now we practically wash them before loading. What a waste of water.
We bought this dishwasher to match the other Cafe appliances we bought. We are happy with all of the other appliances just not this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

On my third unit and it leaks like the first two...

I just received my third dishwasher yesterday.
First one had an issue with the door latching and leaked from the back right corner. GE service came out and took a look, turned out the tub was dented (packaging was fine, so I suspect it happened prepack at the factory).
Got a new unit. This one leaked from the left and right sides a few inches in from the front of the unit. I opened it up and pulled out the racks to find two of the spot welds that secure the tub to the frame had pulled through and were the source of the leak.
Got a third unit, inspected this one as thoroughly as possible before hooking it up. Looks fine, but it leaks from the back left corner somewhere (nowhere near the water or drain lines) looks to be dripping down the side of the tub under the insulation blanket.
Quality control is must be non existent. I'd like to stick with this unit as I bought cafe for my other appliances and would prefer them all to match, but what are the odds a fourth one will be any better....

Poorly Engineered, leaks, do not buy.

I am going to use the term leak for simplicity, but I am actually refering to condensation from the steam cycle building up inside the door panel and running down the inside panel until it drips down onto the floor. I am on my second unit. The first leaked after the first use on the steam cycle and after 4 attempts to fix was deemed to be non-repairable. The second exhibited the exact same symptoms as the first. After a second company was sent to repair the second unit a very knowledgable repairman determined that there was a repair kit that was designed to fix the engineering design issue. After the kit was installed, the unit did not leak until the third time running the dishwasher. Do yourself a favor and do not purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased the Cafe refrigerator (counter depth), double oven, over the oven microwave and dishwasher. 3 of the 4 appliances have had problems and we haven't even had them for one year!

Complete Lemon!

I bought the entire GE Cafe line of appliances for our new kitchen and this dishwasher has required 3 repairs after only years of light use.
When I called for service for the Smart Dispense cover not fitting, I was told that the only way it could be repaired was to screw the cap on permanently, thus rendering the Smart Dispense functionality useless. GE indicated that even though this was the major point of the dishwasher, they could not replace the unit because the rest of it was still functioning.
Now for the third repair, the dishwasher randomly turns itself on and starts a cycle, only to end 20 minutes later unfinished. I assume this is a fuse or electrical board replacement, but that is a $300+ repair.
I am entirely unimpressed with this unit and would not recommend it to anyone. The other GE cafe products we have all work well.
