Good TV but not very user friendly

I have had this TV for about 5 months now. I really like the convenience of able to connect to internet via NET TV. However, I am constantly checking for software upgrade to improve the user experience. The software upgrades do not really have all the features PHILIPS puts in the readme documentation. There had been 4 upgrades till about April and nothing from then onwards. Seems like PHILIPS has stopped work on software upgrades for this model.
It is very difficult to enter search text in NETFLIX or YOU TUBE using the remote. I tried looking for a keyboard compatible with the TV, but seems like there isn't any as of now. Also, the user account favourite list in YOU TUBE is not yet available in the software.
The Media connect has failed to impress me. Very unreliable!!! I keep losing my signal every now and then.
The picture and sound quality is just acceptable, nothing exciting about it.
The remote provided with the TV does not allow any other devices like DVD to be controlled.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I took the TV back because I was sold a refurbished TV claimed to be new, but while I had it for the day I was very unimpressed with the picture quality. My 8 year old Sony rear projection has cleaner HD than this one. Sorry Philips, but I expect more from you given your extensive TV manufacturing resume.

This is a very nice TV, nice design. The WiFi is what sold it for me but I couldn't get it to work until Comcast came out to help. No written manual included. I guess it's online only. There is a bit of a delay when changing channels or turning the TV on. It has a nice user friendly remote. There is a lot available in the Net TV feature, Pandora, Netflix, Facebook, You Tube and many more. It's easy to adjust the picture quality by using the remote. Overall, I would definitely recommend this TV.
Pros: built in wi fi, design, price, 1080p pictures
Cons: connecting to media, navigating through net tv a challenge, occasional pixel problems with picture.

I like my Phillips 55" TV. The picture quality is great the operation is simple enough for even me who is somewhat technically challenged. The only complaint I have is the sound. It is very tinny sounding and garbled on some cable channels. I am going to buy a sound bar an hope that will cure the problem. Kinda sad to spend that much money for a TV and then have to invest another couple of hundred to improve sound quality.
Pros: great quality picture
Cons: sound sucks
