Awesome printer

Love this printer so far! We use it for general day to day printing. Had a problem to start with when we got it. note to anyone who does purchase this printer, DO NOT USE A LINKSYS VALET ROUTER it might work for a day then you will have nothing but problems. We upgraded our router and it has been the best printer.
Pros: Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm not Canon's IT Assistant

I loved this printer/scanner and was prepared to buy another exactly like it to use at my office; however, when I changed the cartridges--using the official Canon ink--having put in five without issue, after I added the last two, all the green lights flashed red instead, and it hasn't worked since.
And here's the thing. I am perfectly adept at installing ink cartridges. I've done it for decades. Sure, I could spend several hours trying to troubleshoot this online, but I don't have those hours to waste. I have a profession that doesn't allow me to moonlight as an IT person. (They don't write my lectures for me, do they?) Something as simple as changing cartridges should not go this wrong and then require hours to address. I've only had the printer for a very few months.

Terrible Software
on October 19, 2013

The MG7120 seems to work fine, setup is easy, image quality is very good, and the touch screen controls are well implemented, but Canon's new software is utterly terrible.
The programs "My ImageGarden " and "ImageBrowser EX" are HUGE steps backwards from the old "Easy Photo EX" and "Zoom Browser EX". The new software makes the simplest of tasks difficult... and sometimes even impossible. Such great hardware deserves great software, not this rubbish.
Canon is clearly going in a very bad direction in software, and given the direction they're headed with such terrible software, this will likely be my last Canon purchase.
Cons: terrible software

after 2 months, this things is unbelievably slow. It is a pain to set up. It is hard to use. The paper feed is unreliable and the trays are inconvenient. Printing an envelope is a crapshoot. it drinks ink. Photos are too expensive to risk trying. copying is a labyrinthine process. Manual is not usable. This is just and awful printer. But it looks cool sitting on my desk.
Pros: pretty
Cons: Difficult to use, Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, unreliable

Problems from the first. All of a sudden cannot change the files to print to photo paper. Colors turn out with a brown tinge, in spite of the PhotoShop preferences.. The printer keeps saying I have to upgrade. but cannot due to the directions given.
Sorry Canon, something is wrong, and it is not me.

Good Harware - Weak Software
on August 9, 2014

I was impressed to find what appears to be a nice quality printer and low price that provides 'on-CD' label capabilities. For normal printing it seems fine. Unfortunately, the software provided with the printer to allow you to print labels directly on CDs and DVDs is lacking in features and I can't find an upgrade at Canon for a better package. I will be returning the printer.
Pros: Easy Setup, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: limited label software
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So Happy

Just bought this printer earlier today, and at first I was a little worried due to the bad reviews. I got it home and literally had it set up in about 5 minutes. It was so much easier than I thought to get it connected wirelessly to my wifi and get it printing straight from my iPhone. So pleased that I actually went back and bought my dad the same one.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to setup when following directions, lower ink price, GREAT CRISP PRINTS, no matter what you print, great wireless function, lots of features...what else could one desire in an 8.5 x 11 all-in-one? Simple. Gift yourself (Or someone you know) with this one, in a color you will enjoy.
