When it works, I love it. If one cartrige is out, you cannot scan print in black. My printer said I needed more black ink. Since I could not evern scan, I went to the store immediately and bought a black in cartridge. I ut the cartridge in and was told informed that I new need a blue cartridge, Mind you that I have only made 3 or 4 color copies in the whole year that I have had it. So until I go buy a blue cartridge, I cannot make any black and white copies or scan. What is up with this.

What a piece of GARBAGE!

This printer will cost you more than its worth in INK. By having a chip in the ink cartridge, it will require you to refill WAY BEFORE YOU HAVE TO REFILL.
If you try to be eco friendly, YOU CAN NOT USE a recyclable cartridge.
This printer will cost you MORE than you want to spend.

SLOW!!!!!!!!!!

I was not expecting this from Canon product. It take literately 4-5 minutes to start-up and first print. Everything else is great. It does print quality pictures and seem well built. Owning it for over a year now and I still can't get over how slow it starts up.

Nice printer

Easy to use after a lengthy setup time. Text looks sharp and graphics also looks great. The only downside is the printing speed. I have an older Canon iIP4500 and it prints twice at fast.
The ability to print on cd/dvd is a great selling point for me. The software is OK.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Slow Print Speed

So frustrating I actually punched it

I finally dumped my Pixma 7120 after many years & hours of grief. I am not a physical or violent person, but this is the first printer that I actually punched because it is so difficult to use. The long wait for print jobs only to find an esoteric error code on the inconvenient display is just one of many reasons to never buy this model. Just placing a stack of paper on top of the printer, as one would do in the normal course of major print jobs, will execute a command or much worse, initiate a shut-down sequence that takes five minutes to recover. I replaced it with a Maxify 5050, and recommend you do the same if you like Canon like I do.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Printer

Great printer. Looks even better when you actually see it. Set up is easy if you just follow the enclosed guide. Just do everything on the enclosed guide and then install the software CD. It doesn't prompt you to do this in the guide. Copy's print out in approximately 10 seconds. Photo's on best quality setting print in 45-50 seconds. Great product from a great company.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: High Ink Consumption
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am very impressed with the features and print output. I found this printer very user friendly. I also own a Canon Pixma 6520 but without hesitations; will use this printer for my primary use. Very well made and impressed with the large digital screen which guides you as to how to use different areas. 5 stars for this machine!!
Pros: user friendly, excellent printing, many features, well made
Cons: none
I would recommend this to a friend!

Gets jammed often!
on July 20, 2014

The quality of the photos from this printer are good. I use it as a dedicated photo printer only. I have a 2nd printer to do everything else. This printer costs way, way, way to much in ink to use as an everyday printer.
Turning the printer on takes several minutes. Then most times I print it gets jammed. I waste a ton of expensive photo paper. At this stage when I use the printer I know that it is going to be a very long, trying process.
I am researching other printers and can't wait to replace it.
Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors, quality photo images
Cons: Difficult to use, High Ink Consumption, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
