I purchased the MG 7120 a few weeks ago because it promised everything I wanted at a fair price. It did a beautiful job of printing photos and test, but was unable to figure out how to print on a DVD. Instruction say don’t install disk until “install disk is displayed on screen,” but there isn’t any to tell the machine you want to print on a disk and if you insert the disk you get an error message. Printing labels is a problem, sometimes two sheets stick together. I tried double sided printing; it printed two single sided sheets instead of a double sided sheet. The scanning software is does a poor jog on gray scale. I returned the unit.
Pros: Compact Design, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Won't print Avery Labels

Cloud and print works fine. Problem is that paper sensor looks for white, and is confused by Avery label headers. Tearing off the top right portion of label allows it to work, but seems dangerous as there is now sticky residue going though printer. Driver need some sort of override to allow label printing.
Pros: cloud print, design, duplex
Cons: avery label paper sense, ink runs out fast, can be long warm up time

I like this printer

My very, very old photo printer died and I didn't think I would find anything good enough to take its place-- but I did- and it was this printer. Very easy to set up via my inhouse wireless network to my Mac, iPhone, iPad and my husband's Windows 8 laptop. The pictures are clear and sharp and the colors are vibrant. I like the white color because my den furniture is white and the compact footprint is a plus. Printing is a little bit on the noisy side. Overall, I think it's a good value and quality for the price.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: noisy printing- 4 stars

Not the best!

I keep having problems with the color cartridges. I have replaced all, but it keeps saying that the grey is empty, when it's brand new. It won't print and it's very frustrating!!! It uses a lot of ink, very quickly, so the cost is high.

An honest review. I love my Canon photography equipment and I liked my previous Pixma 610 printer. Based on that I selected the MG7120 over competitor's products. This printer has been terrible from the start and I've been trying to like it for about 6 months now. Functionally it does what it's told, however it is extremely slow to start up, extremely noisy, the paper output door bangs open and bangs open again during every printer cycling event (it cycles again I guess for cleaning after the print job is complete). Scanner works but has a terrible interface. It does appear it was an effort to simplify (aka cartoonize) the interface however when you just want to get something done, it's annoying. Sorry Canon, but you failed on this one.

Better than expected

I was hesitant after I read the reviews to buy this printer. But I set it up in a flash, enabled the wireless feature and started using it within a short time right out of the box. Granted I have only had it for one day but if it can do all it promises I am thrilled with it. I have already used the scanning feature with great success and printed both in b&w and color. I only give four stars for value because of the crazy expensive ink prices. This printer is replacing my relic pixma MP760 which I hated to give up but it would no longer function with my upgraded software (still using it on an older computer). It is sleek and pretty, easy to use, easy to set up and has a lot of great features. I have all Canon printers, this is my fourth. I also have two Canon cameras and lenses. I am a Canon fan and the best part is if you do need help a real live person is there on the other end of the phone.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use, it's red!

Best Printer ever

I got this printer recently to print in color since my home office laser printer is black/white/grey only. Performs very well and delivers crisp images of numerous sizes. The smooth black design also looks great on my desk and the hidden touch buttons give it a very professional look.
The wireless function is also convent for setup, especially when you have to run a lot of wires through a small opening. Overall great product!
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Great Printer Horrible Software My Image Garden.
on January 13, 2014

While the printer looks great and all the style of set up is very long, longer than any set up I've ever encountered using a printer. First 3 minutes then 6 minutes then test print heads align its insanely long.
One of the major drawbacks is the software "My Image Garden" its a total mess believe me when I say it. I use a mac and Im a graphic designer for over 10 years and this program is not functional at all. It doesn't allocate the iPhoto Library and I can't copy any images/photos to its templates whether its to print to Disc or anything else. In addition it doesn't import PDF's if one already has a DVD layout made its so limited in so many ways its crazy.
Canon you guys need go back to the drawing board or buy out a program called Disc Cover 3 by belightsofware.
Cons: Large Footprint, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
