I love this range. I would have given it a higher rating if the racks in the oven hadn't been redesigned. I don't know why there was a design change because these new racks are not very secure when pulling them out, they easily slip out of the track and there is a notch in the front which is totally useless, that notch made it seem like the racks were in backwards so I scratched the oven trying to put in the racks.
We researched a lot of types of ranges. Electric, gas, dual fuel, we wanted the most out of this one time purchase. We opted for Dual fuel for a higher resale value (just in case) plus electric oven /convection was rated as the best way to heat and everyone knows cooktop gas is by far easier to control. This range comes with two ovens, there is a bottom baking oven which I have yet to use. i have never cooked in convection so that in itself has been a learning experience but i think once I get the hang of it I wont over cook things :) so far everything that has been cooked, broiled or baked has turned out evenly cooked. Baking items have been perfect!!!!! hands down. Very pleased. The cook top: well . I have no complaints. Its just wonderful and I love love love the middle griddle. Grills are quality but not too heavy to lift and clean. Clean up is easy as well. The GE Cafe had the highest ratings on any website we looked at, it has a great appearance and looks very industrial without the price. The buttons are easy to use, easy to clean, and I love the fact there is no "back" so that it has a built in look. The only negative is the fan motor runs during oven use. It is normal according to GE and once you get used to it , its not a big deal and I understand it used to be louder, now its a background noise but I guess its common for convection ovens. So far I am very very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it.
I purchased the GE Cafe electric convection range a few months back and absolutely love it! The double oven option is definitely worth the extra money! For example, this past Easter (April 2014) I baked a full ham in the main oven while cooking casseroles in the oven drawer. We originally were looking at buying a double oven but I wanted one large space for hams or turkeys and a smaller space to cook side items. Note: this is not just a warming drawer. It actually bakes up to 450°. The convection bakes extremely even! Best cookies and cakes! Oh, and there is a built in meat thermometer! You just plug it into the I sode of the oven then program for the oven to beef once it hits the desired temp! Tons of great features! Oh, and we have a toddler so the "range lock out" (childproof feature that disables key pad) is a life saver! Easy to turn on and off. I could go on and on. Love this stove!
As an avid cook, this oven has made my time in the kitchen a pure pleasure. Accurate temperature settings, plenty of cooking surfaces, and we LOVE the griddle feature. Only drawback is the location of the controls can cause a inadvertent change in setting. Will be using the lockout feature.
Was hesitant to buy this because of the cost, but it was the only slide in range that would fit into the counter cut out. I am very glad I did. I love all the features and the performance of this oven.
