I'm no dentist, but this will never replace flossing. It blasts air and a bit of water so it's good for blowing chicken from between you teeth, but does not seem to remove any plaque. So it works well for what it does, which is getting food out from between your teeth, but don't ditch the string just yet. Recommended.
Pros: gets food out from between you teeth, cordless very easy to use, good battery life, doesn't seem to leak even on travel, fairly quiet for what it is
Cons: doesn't seem to remove plaque like floss does
I have gum disease and have had same for about 35 years now and just wish I had taken better care of my teeth and gums.... but its never too late! Its nice to have such a valuable tool to take better care of my oral health.
Really! I find it is the best purchase and investment I have made for my dental hygiene and protection of my teeth and gums for myself and my family! In fact, I have purchased several to give to other family members as birthday or Christmas gifts.
I floss daily and have done so for years. I was excited to find something that I thought would mechanize the process and move it along more quickly.
I was absolutely WRONG in my assumption and I am truly disappointed. Inside of a week my teeth began to feel "fuzzy", as though I had not been flossing at all. I threw away money because I had no understanding, until one or two weeks of experience, that the results are nowhere close to flossing with string.
I do have the Phillips toothbrush and highly recommend that. It is a major improvement over battery operated toothbrushes. It has finally cured my gum issues, along with string flossing.
Pros: will be good for travel, better than not flossing at all
When I use the Sonicare airfloss machine I feel pain in some areas, and it has caused bleeding, so I am disappointed in it. I find it awkward to manipulate, and I don't understand where the water I put in the machine goes, just seems like air coming out in strong bursts. I prefer the water pic machines I have used the last few years, but they don't last long, maybe two years tops, so I spent a lot on this machine when I could have bought a couple water pics.
Cons: causes bleeding, air bursts too intense for me
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, we're sorry to hear that you’ve had a bad experience with the Sonicare Air floss. As stated in the product literature, the product has the Microburst technology that applies a quick burst of pressurized air and micro-water droplets to clean deep between teeth where a toothbrush can't reach. Bleeding gums may be a sign of infection and a little bleeding can be normal when starting a new oral care routine, as you may be cleaning in areas not previously reached. However, if bleeding is excessive or does not stop within a few days of regular use of Air Floss, consult a dental professional.
