Very disappointing product

I have used Sonicare toothbrushes for years. My husband is a dentist and he rates Sonicare brushes as the best. However the Airfloss is a huge disappointment.
I replaced my daily use of regular floss with the Airfloss and within a month I had plaque and tartar with visible staining.
That's the biggest problem. It's not a bad addition to your daily oral care routine but it DEFINITELY DOES NOT WORK as a replacement to traditional floss or interdental brushing and Philips are wrong to sell it as such.
The other problem is that the product has many design faults:
1. It's uncomfortable to hold 2. The water tank is in an awkward position for filling under a tap 3. The water tank is too small (needs refilling 2-3 times per use) 4. The water tank's cover doesn't close securely and often pops open spilling the contents all down your arm 5. The trigger is in an awkward position and if you don't release it completely you can't press it again 6. The shape of the device is odd so it doesn't stay upright easily and needs to either rest in a tumbler or be on its charger all the time which is inconvenient and takes up space 7. The nozzle does not fit flush to the device and occasionally water squirts from around the connection point 8. The nozzle is hard to fit and remove 9. The nozzle is too rigid making reaching round the arches difficult 10. The head is too thick and too rigid so sometimes it's hard to aim it in the right place.
Sorry but this product is a big fail for Sonicare / Philips and I for one am incredibly disappointed. It feels like they had a great idea which they then rushed to get to market without proper research and testing.
As such, we will not be recommending it to patients at our practice.
Pros: great idea
Cons: very poor execution, ineffective for its advertised use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my Sonicare toothbrush with UV sanitizer. I was hoping to love the Airflosser, but was really disappointed. I will admit that I dislike flossing in general and was hoping to never have to floss again because of the Airflosser, but the Airflosser was not even close to living up to this expectation. You can read below for all of the design issues, but what is most frustrating for me is that these issues are obvious if they had done any “testing” of the product before releasing it. From the first time you go to plug it in you notice that the Airflosser does not sit properly on its charger, and therefore does not charge properly. Then when trying to use the Airflosser, if you don’t have it positioned just right it won’t shoot the air “mist” between your teeth properly, especially molars and teeth with tight spaces. As you are trying to reposition the Airflosser to actually “floss” between your teeth you are constantly trying to press the button on top that sticks, as water is running down your arm because the unit leaks from the water tank and from the top piece, AND it runs out of water while you are doing this AND it runs low on its charge because it does not sit on the charger correctly – SUPER FRUSTRATING!! I would wait to see if Philips takes feedback on this product and comes out with the next version before you buy.
I liked the size of the product as I thought it would be easy for travel; however, after trying the product for over a month now, I am disappointed in its performance. It does not feel as though it cleans as well as my prior water floss system and it seems to push against my teeth in an uncomfortable way. At this time I am going back and forth between systems in the hope I will get used to the way it works, as I really do like the size of the product. I may end up only using it for travel.
Pros: size of product
Cons: uncomfortable feel during use

As a registered dental hygienist I highly recommend this product. I always recommend brushing and flossing to my patients but we know not everyone has the dexterity to use floss. This product is very simple to use and has great cleaning ability. Whether you use water or mouthwash in the unit the microburst spray are really effective in removing food and break up the biofilm of plaque. I love that you are not locked into standing over the sink with water dripping all over. Since there is very little water and just the actual burst allows you to use it anywhere in the house. Makes it easy to use. I am recommending this product to all my patients. Job well done Phillips!!

I have used these for a couple of years with great pleasure. Unfortunately these units are plagued with problems and I am tired of sending the handles back, Three strike and you're out in my book. I wish they would re-design these units like the sonicare toothbrushes have evolved over the years. I will wait to see if another model comes out and spend my hard earned money again.
Pros: works great when it works
Cons: keeps breaking down
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I got the new air flosser as soon as it hit the shelf as I knew my patient base was going to want to know what I thought of it. I had read all of the research that Phillips provided and wanted to see the flosser in action. The nozzel will not seat all the way down on the handle and air and water squirts from around that interface. I have tried changing the nozzel and even got in-put from a fellow co-worker who ordered one at a convention in Chicago. She is having the same problem. It will blow food and other un-attached plaque from the embrasure space but I do not see this taking the place of floss.

Does the job well, but needs some design improvement.

Takes a bit of getting used to at first, but seems to be effective at it's job. The design is not as elegant and ergonomic as I would have expected and it is easy to fall over when stood up. A little noisy in operation. A good first model, I am sure the next generation will be much improved.
Pros: cleans effectively
Cons: not the best ergonomics

I have been using many variations of oral irrigators from WaterPik to Panasonic for many years. This device, AirFloss, clearly blows them away for it's level of effectiveness. It is clearly a new product and there are areas that could stand some improvement. Even with that said this product is vastly more effective than anything I have used in the past.
Pros: very even surprisingly effective device!
Cons: could use slightly large water tank, could be more stable on stand, could include at least one additional nozzle
