I finally found my phone!

After years using Android I was so cynical. My phones always were dead before 2/3'rds of my day was gone. They would be undependable shutting down locking up. Whenever I would attempt to get help I was told I "Use too many apps" I run too many things at once" HEY IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A SMART PHONE! That's what I was supposed to be paying for. My new 1520 # Well I have had it for a while# Nokia Windows phone is awesome! When I go to bed at night I have at least 1/3rd of my battery left. I have all the apps I could want great games and I get to try before I buy for the ones that cost money. The Nokia Here Drive+ Map software is awesome. Cortana is so useful and accurate. It is my do all device. I spend so much time on the road and I can play my music through my stereo or listen to pod casts while using the GPS. Sure I did that with my Android but My 1520 keeps doing it without locking up or shutting off. The camera takes such sweet pictures. The Windows interface is so cool looking and customizable. I can make my phone look like I want it. I love this phone. Microsoft is the little guy when it comes to phones and they are doing great things to stand out and win consumers. They got my business.

Top Notch Hardware, Superb 1080p screen and Pureview Camera

If you can overcome the size fear factor, this phone is a beautiful piece of engineering. Coming from Android, I was apprehensive. But WP 8.1 has calmed my fears. I have always admired Nokia for its engineering chops. The apps are almost there (FB, 6tag, FlipBoard, Cortana, whatsapp, Lumia photo apps). The pureview camera is really good. Glance screen and stunning 1080p IPS LCD screen. Wireless charging (1520.3), micro-SD (expandable to 128GB), LTE, NFC, Office Integration (especially with Lync). Superb battery life. I have never run out of battery with extensive usage through the day.
Bing Maps/Here Maps are decent. There are Google map clones. Mytube is better than the official youTube app on Android.
To top it all the price is about 60% of a new iPhone 6 Plus. Why would anyone buy an overhyped Apple Phone is beyond me. This phone is simply that good.

This phone is a refreshing change to the smartphone market.

I was reluctant switching from an iPhone to a Windows Phone, but I am very glad that I made the switch. Surprisingly, it turns out that Windows 8 IS good for something- though I hate the OS on my computer, it's very fast, organized, and easy to use on a phone. The battery life is wonderful- constantly using Wi-Fi, streaming music, watching videos, and playing games and the battery wears out MUCH slower than any other phone that I've had. The sound is very good; much louder than the iPhone. The camera's quality is AMAZING, and I love that you have the ability to control ALL settings like you would using a normal digital camera. You also have the option to download different lenses, which gives you endless possibilities when it comes to taking photos. The front facing camera is also very nice; much clearer than any other front facing camera that I've had on a phone. Also, the placement of the capture/camera button is very convenient and you don't have to struggle when taking any sort of photo.
Everything loads extremely fast- whether you are browsing through blogs or streaming a full length movie, I have not had ANY issue or lag. So far NONE of my apps have crashed or closed suddenly. The touch screen is much smoother and more precise. Crystal clear, quality display as well! And believe it or not, the phone is NOT as hard to handle as some may think. I know some people are wary because of how large the phone is-- but it will surprise you! It's easier to handle, especially during phone calls.
Cortana has definitely grown on me, and I actually would give her a higher rating than I would for Siri. Wonderful for voice commands, especially text messaging. One of my favorite things is the fact that she will LEARN to pronounce your name correctly- and coming from someone who has a very odd name, I think it's pretty neat.
Another thing that I absolutely love is the new GPS Apps they put on the phone. You can now use your GPS without using any data- so this is wonderful if you have a fixed data plan, or if you are stranded in the middle of nowhere without service.
A lot of the games go through the Microsoft Studios/Xbox Live site, so whenever you're playing certain games, you actually gain achievement points like you would if you were playing on your Xbox 360. You can even connect your phone to your Xbox Live account.
The only negative thing about this phone is the fact that you can't get all of the apps that you would on another smart phone market. I have not been able to find a lot of the popular apps like "Candy Crush" or "Hay Day" or anything- but I have discovered a lot of new, unique apps.

The best phone released to date.

I have used every type of phone. From the green alien to the half eaten fruit and both were either too unstable and buggy, or simply shiny paper weight that cost to much to own just to make it work. But Windows Phone, not only works out the box without much massaging, but now this latest version 8.1 on what has to be the best phone released to date, the Nokia 1520, I have to say I used to get work and play done in style before, but now I am the envy of every green alien and half eaten fruit user that lays eyes on my 1520. What? it does that? I can't do that? What is that again? A Nokia? That is usually how the conversations go, and I have converted many people who all say the same thing... I have never loved my phone before... And I love my phone now. So why do people still wait online for old repackaged plastic? I will never be able to explain.
Pros: Personal, Business, camera replacement, mobile office, presentations, health tracking, travel guide, public transportation

Love This Phone!

I wanted to come on here and add to the reviews, lol with all the buzz around the iPhone 6 now. I have had my Lumia 1520 since last December and I absolutely love it! I loved it before the recent Windows Phone 8.1 upgrade and now, after that, I love it waaay more! The upgrade happened right around my birthday too so that seemed like Microsoft's birthday present to me - almost like a new phone but within the same hardware. Upgraded interface!
On to the review - I'm not much of a techie so I'm not going to list a review of every feature. Of course the camera is great and really everything else. I will go through some things I really love about it. Cortana is really awesome. I don't think it is operating yet at full capacity- meaning I don't think I've untapped all of its capabilities yet, but it is really cool. It doesn't talk to me as much as I would like but that's probably because I don't really talk to it - I still feel a little weird talking to my phone! I didn't go through the whole Siri thing, as I never liked the iPhone interface. Back to the phone & Cortana: I love the daily snapshot it gives me - tailored to me from all the things I told it. I love the reminders it gives me - telling me that its time to leave and the traffic, to get to an appointment. Its really helpful. I love the slide down notifications and expanded volume control. I love the new texting style - makes typing a lot of words possible in a really short time! and is so effortless! I love the new update to the already cool live tiles! The transparent background is awesome! I love the new glance screen - the update is just that much cleaner! And of course I've always loved the overall look - both the build of the phone and the interface. I appreciate the interface over a Droid or iphone interface any day, and furthermore don't get how soooo many people aren't turned on to Window Phone's interface instead!
I think Microsoft needs to do better advertising! Maybe stop showing Windows Phones in comparison to Apple. I mean that's great and all - people need to see a comparison but a lot of the earlier ads - that kind of comparison just makes it seem like you're constantly showing Apple as the standard that you're trying to catch up to (standard in popularity of course) but they need to show how Windows Phone stands in its own class!
Lastly I really hope they continue to improve the phone. If they continue to make jumps like they did with this WP8 to WP8.1 - they will be lightyears ahead of the competition!!

1/2" too big

If this phone were a 1/2" smaller, I would have bought it without question. 5.5" would have been perfect. 6" is just over the threshold of being too big. The features are really amazing though.
