After owning all the latest, greatest in cellular devices. Over 35+ years, from car mount, bag ph., bricks, flip all the way to the new touch screen phones, running android, ios and early windows. Having come to the fact that, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is the best, most intuitive combination, add win 8.1 and there is no better! Just wish there were more accessories, easily available. I totally enjoy this combination and the 20 meg. Camera just adds a bonus, so if you want a secure, clear and reliable phone, look no further.

Best phone I have ever used

Let me start off by saying that I am a Nokia fan. I used the Nokia N79 as my daily driver for quite some time then used the E71 briefly before returning to the N79. This was around the time that the first iPhone surfaced.
Then I used the N8 for quite some time and that was a revelation into how good a smartphone could be as a complete package. Media? Excellent. Camera? Excellent. Multitasking? Excellent? Expandable? Yes. Internet? Not so much as Symbian was not really designed for the internet.
Moving to the Lumia 900 was an average experience before transitioning to the far superior L920 a year later. In all this time I had used Android devices and iPhones. If Microsoft were to terminate all Windows Phone (Windows?) devices, I would grudgingly move to an iPhone. Android? Never.
Then came the L1520 in white which I used for 8 months before getting the L1520.3 in yellow with US LTE support which is my current daily driver. Best phone I have ever used bar none. No need to list all that it can do as others have already done that. All I can say is that when someone whips out an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, my only beef is that I do not have access to the vast library of apps that he/she does. That aside, I sit back knowing that I have a device whose hardware handily outperforms anything out there.
With 8.1 and Denim quickly approaching, software parity with other platforms has been reached and exceeded in some places. Windows 10, I am waiting for you. Nokia, you will be missed.

Amazing device but needs work

I really love this phone, size, features, battery life, but there is a nagging screen issue that is very frustrating! The phone mistakes scrolling for tapping, even with the sensitive touch off. I am hoping for a fix, but I'm also looking for a new windows phone device that might be a better fit.

A Year Later and the 1520 is Still Ahead of the Curve!

Beautifully built and designed hardware and despite the anti-hype, the best, most vibrant, alive and content-rich OS with Windows Phone 8.1! Forget the frozen-dead Chiclets of IOS or Android, the Tiles are customizable and constantly updating-at-a-glance. Apps are building and already beyond critical mass. Better days ahead as WP converges with Windows PC. The competitors on this scale of phone are dull in comparison. Camera is a big plus, as well as OneDrive, OneNote and Office integration.

A quirk or two after most of a year of heavy use, minor and not a problem; overall I find the performance excellent, features more than adequate to my needs. I miss having a pocket-friendly phone but this larger format makes a lot of functions easier, so it's a fair tradeoff. I LOVE the camera and all it's features--actually why I chose it, was pleased with additional tablet-type functions. Need to upgrade my data plan and then my laptop can do a lot more sleeping while this little workhorse takes over! An excellent phone, tablet and camera all in one.
Pros: Personal, photography for sale, uploading art for sale to internet, notes-taking for fiction project

Everything I need, without the nonsense.

I am very happy with this phone. I use it for work first, and play second. My job keeps me emailing and calling/texting all the time, and this phone is proficient in these areas. Windows 8.1, while it could use some refinements, is an overall great operating system. Everything works harmoniously. The battery life is outstanding. The one hardware issue I have is the commonly known "scroll/tap" issue, which causes the phone to occasionally interpret scrolling as a screen tap. So you may open an app instead of getting to what you needed. Otherwise, I have no real complaints. Cortana is getting better, slowly but surely. I am excited to see what the next update brings!
