You keep asking me to write a review - I have no complaints except I do miss my old Sunbeam, Heritage: Sturdy, double motor, however it is too old for new parts, so i am left with the current options. I tis hard to be positive when you miss your old friend (about 15 years)

Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series (Indigo Blue)

Based on one month of ownership, the Sunbeam Mixmaster's 350 watt motor has sufficient torque to handle without complaint typical projects of the casual baker: boxed cake and brownie mixes and corn bread made from scratch. The bowl must be hand-spun and its sides scraped with a spatula, a somewhat cumbersome task not required with my KitchenAid. Chrome plated steel beaters should be hand-washed and immediately dried to promote a long life. I wish Sunbeam supplied the 2.2 quart bowl and whisk attachment with this mixer.
The Sunbeam Heritage Stand Mixer's 4.6 qt non-locking bowl is made of light-weight stainless steel with a weighty base. Even without a handle. it is surprisingly easy to transfer heavy cake and brownie batter to a baking pan and then hand wash with hot water and dish detergent. The optional 2.2 quart bowl's factory polished inside surface was quite rough and needed several scrubbing sessions with Barkeepers Friend.
The Indigo Blue finish is not as refined as a cobalt blue KitchenAid made in the late 1980s and painted Sunbeam Mixmasters made in Chicago during the 1950s. I fixed a sharp casting flaw on the handle's edge with 3M rubbing compound, several layers of cobalt appliance paint and Teflon wax. The rubberized plastic tilt button has a deep scrape on the top left side. Redesign the tilt mechanism so the button does not bind when you push it in to raise and lower the mixer head. Work harder to spot and eliminate production-related flaws before a unit is sold to the consumer. Since my unit so far functions as intended for light-duty mixing projects, I don't plan on returning it for minor cosmetic issues. If the mixer fails within the 2 year warranty period, I anticipate that Sunbeam-Newell Brands will promptly replace it.
My overall opinion about the Mixmaster would merit 4 or 5 stars if Sunbeam-Newell Brands transferred the mixer lines back to North America and made it exactly like the 50 to 70 year old metal Mixmaster other reviewers rave about with light-weight glass bowls that don't need to be manually rotated and special kitchen center attachments. Detaching the head as a hand mixer distinguished the original 1930-1965 Mixmasters designed by Ivar Jepson. Manufacture your Heritage Series lines with an eye for American and European-made standards of quality by making them repairable instead of fodder for landfills. Create a convenient parts and service operation in all 50 states and Canada so the motor, solid state speed controller, power switch, cord, knobs and buttons can be easily replaced at nominal cost. Add the whisk attachment and a quilted cover to your website. While the Mixmaster Heritage stand mixer costs about half the price of the KitchenAid Artisan, it could be a much better appliance if Sunbeam-Newell Brands reincorporated the tried and true, old school Sunbeam design elements and features appreciated by our parents and grandparents.

DO NOT BUY

I bought this to replace another sunbeam mixer that stopped turning on its own. I just took it out of the box to use and it does not turn well. It took 45 minutes to beat egg whites. I would have been better off keeping my old mixer or buying another brand.

Thank you for providing this feedback. The bowl spins on a freely spinning base by the nylon tip of the cone shape beater. The bowl may need to be nudged with your hand to encourage it to spin. We definitely want to ensure that your stand mixer is working well for you! Please call us at 1-800-458-8407. We're happy to help you Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm Eastern.

Plastic beater gears!

I liked that this mixer was so similar to my sunbeam mixer that I used almost daily for cakes, cookies, bread dough and making butter for 25 years. However I used this one infrequently and only for cakes and cookies and it quit after a few years. The beater gears are stripped and I can not find those parts to repair it. Very disappointed! Sunbeam, you need to raise your quality as well as stock parts. The service center does not have them.

Totally Disappointed!!!

I wish I could rate this a 0!! My mom owned her Sunbeam mixer for over 40 years and used it often. First time using my new Heritage Stand mixer for Christmas cookies and am so disappointed in both the quality and performance. The bowl wobbles and needs to be held in place during the addition of dry ingredients. I will be using a hand mixer for the rest of my holiday baking this year.

Don’t waste your money

This mixer is mediocre, when it works, you have to spin the bowl yourself, it has trouble with anything remotely thick. It gets very hot when in use. It is very loud compared to other mixers. I’ve had it now for 4 years, it’s used moderately, mostly for making frosting, butter cream and royal. As of now, the attachments no longer stay on, they fall out completely on one side, rendering it completely useless, will never buy again, should have gone with kitchen aid in the first place

Adequate, but sad

I learned to bake in the 1960's using my mother's Sunbeam mixmaster, which is still going strong. I got my first Sunbeam stand mixer about 12 years ago and it still works, but the plastic bushing that holds the beaters in place wore out and the part is obsolete and cannot be replaced. The mixer itself still works, but that is of little value when the beaters fall out every time it gets turned on!!! It killed me to have to get a new one, since I was hoping to be able to keep and use it as long as my mother has had hers! The new chrome mixer works fine, but it's even cheesier than my old one. It only comes with one bowl, which has clips on the bottom and on the turntable, so I can't use the small bowl that came with my old mixer. Also, the beaters do not meet the bottom of the bowl, which means a lot more stopping and scraping to ensure that the batter is thoroughly mixed. Both the beaters and the dough hooks are of a much lower quality. I'm disappointed. I expect I will be replacing this mixer in less than 12 years, and probably not with a Sunbeam.
