The only problem I have with this mixer is the turntable doesn't turn on its own. Other than that, it makes great mashed potatoes (no lumps).

Poor Design

I have owned a Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixer for 15 years and absolutely loved it! But recently it finally gave out. I ordered this new Sunbeam Mixmaster and it was cheap plastic. The bowl will not stay on the stand, will not spin if you put a spatula along the inside wall to scrape down the mix. I was very very disappointed. My old Mixmaster was all metal and this new design is all plastic. The whole mixer shook while trying to mix cookie dough.

I had a Mixmaster for my first mixer when I got married. It was great. This one is nothing like it, very cheap. It's almost all plastic. It does a terrible job of mixing, missing the sides of the bowl and half the food on the bottom. Since they took the center posts out of beaters, none of this type do a very good job. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

So disappointed when I opened my new mixer to replace a Sunbeam I had used for 30 years. PLASTIC!!! I haven't used it yet, but my disappointment at the quality was overwhelming. It wasn't until I decided to write this review that I saw the Heritage series that is made of metal. I will either return the other one or give to a daughter who doesn't bake very much. I have another Sunbeam stored in the basement that was a gift, but doesn't come off the stand, so I was making sure that it came off the stand and didn't notice that the one I was ordering was plastic. That fact needs to be prominent in the description.

Don't waste your money!!!

I owned a Sunbeam stand mixer prior to this pricey purchase thinking I was upgrading my mixer...what a disappointment!!! The turntable doesn't spin...the beaters don't go down far enough...THE REASON FOR A STAND MIXER IS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPIN THE BOWL MANUALLY!!! I opted to purchase this Model FPSBSM2103 based on the reviews...I know all the 12 speeds seems to be slow and slower...no difference. My last Sunbeam stand mixer I was able to remove the top mixer and use it in a larger bowl free hand. This one doesn't allow for that. Maybe this is a defected one!!! Now that my husband (recycled the box) how can I return it?!?

On the stand mixers all turntables are free-wheeling and must be turned by hand. The bowl spins on a freely spinning base by the nylon tip of the cone shape beater. The bowl may need to be nudged with your hand to encourage it to spin. Please contact customer service at 1-800-667-8623 for further customer assistance.

It was plastic! No substance to it. I owned a mixmaster for years and loved it. After about 25 years, it finally died. I tried to replace it with a new one and it was cheap plastic. So disappointing. Returned it immediately. There was no way this was going to be able to do any real backing.

Run far, far away!

Terrible product with a terrible design; Sunbeam knows it, but won't make changes or stand behind the product. Plastic gears inside the mixer melt and make the mixer unrepairable, and I was just whipping frosting. I can't imagine how they advertise this could knead bread dough. Customer service said once it's past warranty, they won't do anything about it. Long ago Sunbeam used metal gears, now they are plastic. Kitchen Aid still uses metal gears, and that's why their mixers can actually mix. Sunbeam calling a product that can't mix a "mixer" is fraudulent. "Heritage Series Boat Anchor" would be a more truthful name. All this did was fill my kitchen with the smell of burning plastic. Keep the fire extinguisher close by, and the phone to make dinner reservations; you won't be eating a home cooked meal!

Do not waste your money

I have a slightly older model of this mixer which was purchased for me for Christmas 2014 by a relative. It barely works. The turntable/bowl rely on the motion of the beaters to make it spin (it does not spin by itself). The beaters do not stay seated well. The bowl stops spinning frequently. The batter being mixed sticks to the sides of the bowl and lumps up in the center remaining untouched by the beaters. This is a hand mixer masquerading as a stand mixer. Do not buy it.
