The Oster Compact Juice Extractor replaces a much larger and 'more powerful' unit I've owned for several years. The old unit was unwieldy and consumed so much counter space, that it had to be moved to pantry storage, rather than left on the counter. Its exile to behind the doors meant that it saw only infrequent use - it was a giant hassle to decide you wanted to juice something and then drag it out, set it up, juice, and go through the overly difficult cleaning and disassembly process.
I've used the Oster extractor several times, and I have found its performance to be similar to the larger and much more expensive unit it replaced. The extractor doors a very good job of complete extraction, there is little to no loss of production.
The extractor screen revolves at a very high velocity, and is easily removed for cleaning. The result of the high velocity screen is that there is a lot of deflection for harder fruits and vegetables - keep a steady hand and be prepared for small chunks of them to launch from the chute when you're juicing nonchalantly. This is a minor quibble, and if you're prepared it won't develop into a game changer. As you become more familiar with the device and refine your juicing technique, it seems to become less and less an issue. Also, despite the higher velocity operation, this extractor is still significantly lower volume than my previous one.
Another minor issue is juice and pulp that escapes the chamber and reaches the reaches below the screening area is collected around the spindle that drives the spinning screen. The engineers have cleverly added a channel to collect liquid there, but you should be aware of how juicy the area gets to prevent overflow, which seems like it might seek out the spindle. Forewarned is fore-armed - on your first few goes, check on this area to better ascertain how much you can work before you should empty the accumulations.
My only other suggestion is that for a couple extra dollars in the price point, inclusion of an appropriate brush for screening basket cleaning would be a huge improvement for this end user. Particularly if the brush could be engineered to attach to the body of the extractor somewhere.
In conclusion, I'm thrilled with the Oster. It performs admirably when compared to the unit it replaced, while reducing the physical size by better than 50% and weight by 300%. It is small enough to REMAIN on my counter, making use a breeze and as a result, significantly increase the quantity of healthy treats consumed in my household. The minor issues and suggestion might cost this device a half star, but again, the price to performance ratio yields that loss right back. Very impressive, Oster!

Good for Juicing Carrots!

The Oster Juice Extractor is a sleek looking compact juicer. It has an easy to use on/off turn switch and the mouth was wide enough to put semi cut fruits and vegetables through. It has a strong motor but it was quieter than some of my older juicers. Still a bit loud though! I also liked the see through lid and pulp collector. What I didn't like about this model was the actually juicing. It did fine with hard vegetables and fruits but failed to juice soft items effectively. I put some peaches and softer apples through and they most came out in the pulp section. I also put spinach in and hardly any of the juice came out of the spout but instead collected under the blade compartment. The instruction manual also said to put food in when it's running but some fruits shot straight back out at me. The juicer spout was also a bit messy and spits juice beyond the capturing container. One other problem I had with the juicer was that juice would leak down below the blade holder compartment and around the motor base. I could not get this clean all the way. The juicer was easy to clean. This was received as a sample for review.

Absolutely great compact juicer! My family and I aren't big into juicing, but this dandy little unit definitely makes it easier! We would use this likely on average about once a week to make a nice smoothie drink for our children. It is simple effective and very easy to use. It nicely matches our decor, and makes a nice conversation piece one folks come to visit. My only real issue with the unit are the number of pieces that are required to make it operate…those parts call for a lot of cleaning. However, clean up was easy. All in all we really enjoy this unit and are very thankful to be able to use it.

This was the first juicer I've ever used/owned. I always wanted to purchase one, but they always seemed over priced and I didn't want to worry about counter space or trying to store it. But I must say, the price point, and the compact size of this product are both excellent! I've used the juicer several times and the results have always been excellent. It's also extremely easy to break down and take apart for easy cleaning. Another reviewer stated that the try and other components feel loose. The trays don't have straps and clips, but simply snap into place. They do tend to move a little, but I never felt like they would come loose. Overall this is a great product and I would recommend this to anyone who is in the market for a high quality and affordable juicer. Disclaimer - I received this product free to review.

For a small, inexpensive juicer, this one does the job. You need to cut up most items to decently small sizes to fit in the mouth of the juicer. Easy to clean, and does not take up much counter space. All in all, a good product for a first time juicer. I was given this product to demo.
