I have had this model for a couple of years and I have had to replace water valves, switches, and make various other repairs. I strongly recommend NEVER buy a KitchenAid appliance. Currently, I am one of the myriad of customers who have a non-functioning ice dispenser. I have gone through all the troubleshooting and had two professionals look at it and they cannot fix it. I think KitchenAid should stick to small appliances and get out of the refrigerator business.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The KitchenAid refrigerator is stylish and has wonderful features. The water filter and the air filters are easy to find and replace. Food is so easy to find due to the excellent lighting design. We like the control locking feature. It is the best refrigerator we have ever had. It is an excellent value.

We bought this refrigerator two days ago. It is beautiful and does everything a refrigerator should do but we have had some early problems. First, the shelving is very hard to install and will only go in in a limited number of ways because the door can not be closed due to conflicts between the shelves in the refrigerator and those in the door. Evenso, we finally managed and the result is quite good. However, there is one problem that we have not been able to adjust to our satisfaction. The refrigerator is very noisy. Noisy to the extent my wife does not like to go into the kitchen; therefore, I have to do the cooking! I am really not very good at it.
(The dishwasher, range and microwave, all Kitchen Aids, are delightful so far. The dishwasher is the quietest we have ever had.)
PS. I would not recommend this refrigerator to a friend nor any other refrigerator because I do not know enough about them.

Been through many GE appliances, and they all failed.
So far, we love this fridge. We still have space in it AND it's the same size as our GE that was the same size.
The only flaw is the icemaker is slow/small. Not a deal breaker one bit.
