4 years old and stopped working

I cannot say much positive when the unit is 4 years old and has stopped working. The troubleshooting documentation and manuals are weak and don’t tell you much. Our ice maker makes about 15 cubes a day, and the water dispenser has rarely worked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

GE made reliable refrigerators in the past.

My two previous GE refrigerators , one is 35 years old and the othe other is 25 years old. So 7 years ago I bought this new GE modern refrigerator. Thus far I have changed all the door and drawer seals and the main circuit board 3 times. Now the refrigerator has stopped cooling. I am going to throw it out. I have spent more monies and time on this fridge than the previous two combined. I have been a loyal GE customer and even have a GE range, still working after 25 years though parts are no longer available. In conclusion I will never buy another GE appliance again. These new modern ones are cheaply made with just good looks.

I love this Fridge, when it works

I am in my current home for 13 years. This is my 3rd GE Fridge. The 1st fridge was a cafe, which died at almost the 3 year mark. We were lucky that Cafe’s had 3 year warranties(at least back then they did). We were told they could not fix it, and we were able to pick a comparable fridge for free. Lost a lot of food, and lived out of coolers for a couple of weeks, but at least it didn’t cost us anything. The 2nd fridge was a profile with a 2 year warranty. We got lucky that it died right before the 2 year mark. Sounds crazy to say it’s lucky for your fridge to die within 2 years, but it is what it is, Same deal as the first, unfixable, and given choice of free comparable fridge. We chose this fridge. Only problem is that this one made it past the 2 year mark. At less than 3 years, it died. Mechanic came out and fixed it. It was the Inverter Control Board. Cost a good amount to fix it. A year later, dies again. My husband refused to pay them to fix it, and is pretty handy, especially since he discovered YouTube. He diagnosed it to be the Main Board. He replaced it himself, still cost a couple hundred for the part, can’t imagine how much it would of been if we called someone. Anyway, a year later, dies again. Husband replaces the Inverter Control board, which the mechanic had replaced 2 years earlier. And here we are again today. It’s either 2 or 3 years since he replaced the Inverter Control board. Freezer is in the 20s. He got out is multi meter, and you guessed it……..We need yet another inverter Control board. Craziness. I love this fridge, when it’s working. If my husband wasn’t so handy and they never invented YouTube, I would hate this Fridge. They clearly have an issue that has to do with inverters and boards. Maybe they can work on that, I don’t know. I do know that my parents had their same fridge for like 30yrs.

Refrigerator is everything we wanted

The one thing it is missing that I had to go out and buy was a container for eggs. Other than that, there is ample room to fit any size product, food stays fresh for a reasonably long time.

I LOVE MY FRIG!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All the appliances in my house are GE and i like all their features. My refrigerator has the 2 double doors with the ice maker built in. The icemaker is great! It's easy to remove it , empty it into the bin in the freezer and easy to put back in unlike the older icemakers. My double freezer is also a great thing to have . It gives me extra room to store things. Most of all, the overall appearance is beautiful. It's my favorite piece in my kitchen!! :)
