Great features but not too reliable

I bought this refrigerator in 2012 when I retired from GE. Although it has very nice features, the reliability has being very disappointing. Had to be repaired 3 times for the same problem. My previous GE refrigerator lasted 44 years with virtually minor repairs.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Keeps breaking down

In the 8 years GE tech out 4 times and three (3) mother boards have been replaced and charged lots of money. Ice maker went out and in addition twice drain clogged and ice accumulated at bottom and melts on floor. Doing that again. Tired of the hassle and the food going bad. Getting another brand as this GE unit has horrible reliability and GE will do nothing about it. Never again will I buy anything GE.

Freezing water line and stainless steel issues

Service techs were called on three occasions to fix the water line that was freezing in the back of the unit. All calls made while still under warranty. The first two attempted fixes entailed extra insulation and duct tape. The third try was a suggested fix for a similar model which included a new part (not sure if the duct tape is still there or not). The tech said it was poor design. I wasn't impressed with the whole process. After the third visit I purchased an extended warranty.
I will never buy stainless steel facades again. Every finger print and water droplet besmirches it until a special cleaner is used. Maybe there is a better solution to protect it, but I haven't seen it.

Looks great, but noisy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Every 5-10 minutes it makes a high- pitched noise that I can hear at the other end of the house. Had the serviceman out; he said that it was a shutter used for temperature regulation, and nothing could be done. Also, the ice maker sprays ice chips, making a mess. I would return it I could, but I ordered it from an online company. Lesson learned.

Beautiful but noisy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The refrigerator looks stunning. My neighbors have complimented its appearance and design, especially the extra freezer door. I have 2 complaints about the product. First is that it is rather noisy. There is a high-pitched sound every 5-10 minutes that comes from the motor that actuates one of the dampers that control the inner temperature. It is loud enough to hear 30 feet away. The other complaint is that when I hold a glass up to the ice maker to obtain crushed ice, no matter how I hold the glass, some crushed ice always lands outside of the glass.

I purchased the GE Profile refrigerator to match my other GE Profile appliances and I couldn't be happier.  The style is so modern but not contemporary.  I love the lower freezer drawers.  It seems to hold so much more than a freezer on the top.  When you open the French doors everything is visible...which I love!    No more searching.   Also love the stainless.    It's so sleek & clean looking.
