The worst phone I have ever owned

This phone is by far the worst I have ever owned. I even had to have it replaced the first week I owned it, and it still had the same problems. It overheated when on phone calls for more than 5 minutes. It would shut down all on its own for no reason. It dropped calls constantly. And it wasn't the carrier it was the phone. Because I have the same carrier but different phone now, and I don't drop any calls. The paint on the buttons wore off before it was even 6 months old. Very slow processing anything. I added an SD card for more memory, and it didn't matter. I could only have 1 app downloaded at a time on my phone because the apps which ran the phone took all of the memory. It was horrible. Waste of money! I have had this phone about 6 months and already paid out of pocket to replace it because I'm not due for an upgrade for another year. This phone wouldn't have made it another year!
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, poor service
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's a great idea to be able to add a solar charger/battery right to the phone, but it dosn't keep the phone charged all day long. Took awhile to get used too.
Pros: solar power
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

love the phone, hate the battery
on August 31, 2011

I've had my Replenish a couple of months now and I gotta say I'm really pleased over all with the phone. It's my first smartphone. The touchscreen, keyboard, apps, speed - all are great! Learning my way around the features was pretty intuitive so I was really comfortable with it in about a half hour or so. Signal strength in my area could be better but I'm guessing that's got to be a carrier issue instead of a Samsung issue.
The one feature I would love to see improved would absolutely be the battery life! I have to charge the phone every night 'cause the battery status is in the yellow-red range on the indicator bar by the end of the day. I've tried different apps, widget controls, app-killer, no app-killer, so on and so on, nothing really seems to help. I bought the solar battery cover, but after reading the fine print realized it wasn't going to help me 'cause I don't ever have the phone in direct sunlight. The pamphlet that came with the solar cover stated that the battery cannot be charged by artificial light.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, ease of use
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Poor Replinish

I have had this phone only a week. I have removed nearly all high data usage programs and the battery will not hold a charge. These phones are great but are of little or no use if the battery cannot handle of even a portion of what they are able to do. Basically the phone is worth no more than the battery. Consumers might as well buy phones that allow voice talk and text messaging and nothing else.
I expected a little more from Samsung.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

Least impressive phone I have owned
on April 12, 2012

I have had a cell phone since 1998. The Samsung Replenish is the least impressive phone I have owned. The battery life is not that great. I have taken it off the charger around 8 in the a.m. and the battery would be drained by 5 p.m. This would be on a day when I only made a couple short calls and sent/received a couple texts. When I looked at battery usage, it would show 47% of power usage for standby. There is not much storage on the phone itself and the option to delete photos from the gallery has vanished. The responsiveness of the phone is sluggish at best. When I am on the phone and need to go to a menu, it is often difficult to get the display to light so I can use the phone for something other than talking. The quality of the camera is poor. The phone is durable. I truly go what I paid for. I had not read any reviews when I got the phone because it was so new.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Durable
Cons: Did not meet expectations, after update no option to delete gallery photos
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

"eco-friendly" must be a kind term for cheap
on April 30, 2012

This phone never ceases to disappoint. I would start by listing the good things about it, but the only thing I can think of is the Android 2.3 operating system, which of course, is not unique to this phone. Oh, and that it's cheap, which leads to my major complaint: the build quality is horrendous. The entire phone is made of cheap plastic, with metallic paint that only makes it look cheaper. I understand that plastic can be re-used, which makes it "eco-friendly" but metal is just as recyclable. A metal outer body would have made the phone look and feel like a higher quality piece. I appreciate that the plastic screen doesn't shatter when the phone is dropped, but after a few weeks of use mine was covered in nicks and scratches. In addition to cheapness on the outside, the cost cutting continues on the inside: The 600mhz CPU not only is too weak to run many newer apps smoothly, but since it has to work at full throttle to do anything, the phone becomes hot to the touch, and the battery life is cut to unacceptable levels. At best, I can make it 8 hours before the phone dies. The small 240x320 display offers such low resolution that you can see individual pixels, and the measly 160mb of internal memory means that you'll hardly have room for your browser cache, let alone any apps. The 2.0MP camera takes pictures just a bit better than my phone from 2004, and the video quality is not even worth getting into. And if the standard-issue cheapness wasn't enough, my phone was cursed with a defective micro USB port, making the phone think it's charging all the time, even when unplugged. This causes the charging LED to remain stuck on, which drains my already terrible battery life to an unusable 3 hours.
The idea of an eco-friendly phone is nice, but this one was built too cheaply to be a game-changer. I would have had no problem paying more for the phone, had the build quality and hardware been increased to match the price. But looks like I'll have to pay double the price anyways, the defective hardware means I have to buy another phone. I love Samsung products, and I'll stick with them, but this time I'll have to go with a higher quality device, like a Nexus S 4g.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, poor battery life, defective micro usb port
