Sharpening wheels not spinning (?)

Got this as a gift, read the instructions, but when I turn on the power switch it makes a hum, but the sharpening wheels do not move. Seems defective. Watched a video of someone using the same sharpener and yea, his works perfectly. Maybe I got a bad one.

Sharpens precisely, quietly and consistently. To use correctly takes a bit of practice but is worth it. Read the directions!

Sharpened knife cut through lime like butter

I never want to use the knives from my knife block for small jobs and have these cheapy go-to knives I use all the time and love. I’ll replace them when they go dull, so I have a drawer full of unused knives. I got this sharpener as a gift about a month ago and decided to test it out on one of the dull, Asian paring knives I have. After pulling the knife through both sides of the first slot, my knife was able to cut through a lime like butter! Love how easy it was to use too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not functioning properly

Disappointed The various stages don’t seem to engage the blades consistently or at all. On the right side of stage 3 there seems to be no sharpening in first 2/3 of the blade and then blade suddenly drops down and sharpens the final 1/3 (tip) of the blade. Tried chat but it is robot. Chat and website only want video and proof of purchase rather than telling how to resolve. Told me to return so that is what I am doing
