Needs another screw

This is the second one we've had installed (the first was defective). Seems to be working fine now. But, GE needs to think about adding another screw to the metal encasing the microwave. When hanging under the cabinet by the two bolts, the center top of the case bows and slightly obstructs the cabinet doors. We can live with it, but another screw would fix it.

We have been very happy with the GE Profile series. This microwave is quiet and performs well so far. Only negative we have found is we wish the night light was auto-timed like our last profile.

HAVE ONLY HAD A FEW DAYS BUT SO FAR IT WORKS AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO. REPLACED A PREVIOUS PROFILE MICROWAVE THAT WAS 7 YEARS OLD AND THE MAGNETRON WENT OUT

bad feature hard to read controls to dark

just brought to replace old 25 yr old sharp pluses dark inside - heats fast-nice looking minuses hard to read control board to dark and small should be backlighted- instructions limited and cheap - sounds cheaply made when opening and closing door

Replacement Microwave

We bought a new GE Profile Microwave Oven to replace a previous 10-year-old model which had developed arcing in its motor. I am concerned because the newer model has more plastic in its front, top and side construction than its predecessor, which had more stainless steel. And, when you close the door, it feels more lightweight and less "solid" as its predecessor. But, it seems to measure up, feature wise. There are a few more choices, such as "Soften" for butter. And, the fan will now go on automatically if too much heat is generated by the stove top beneath. Because of a design change re: the fan (the previous one opened up to release the air; this one has vents in the stationary top), it had to project a bit more forward in the cabinetry, which involved installing it with a sham behind it to push it forward more. There is a monogram on the oven that is not flush, but sticks out. I think that will be a real grease catcher; I wish it had been printed on the panel, instead, like the previous model.

dead in two years

I was very happy with this microwave until it started turning off periodically when we shut the door. Now it is completely dead, and probably not worth the risk of having a technician look at it. We'll have to buy another one, but not a GE. They already took our money for only two years of service. It's really too bad.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
