ps3 went to pot and needed a BD player. So easy to set up and plays my BD perfectly they look better then ever. Even plays the BD my ps3 wouldn't.

This replaced an LG BP530. The Sony BDPS3500 has a smaller remote and more apps available. It connects WiFi quicker and keeps the aspect ratio of the program material better. The Blu Ray player is just that... a real Blu Ray player. So far it's a perfect interface with the world of streaming entertainment. And almost forgot, you can play PS3 games on it!

The control is a little small but sufficient to do the job.

Superb image processing makes ordinary discs look like BluRay. Streaming is excellent. On screen functionality of menu features like subtitles is excellent. However, the remote controller has been reduced in size excessively, to a point where it is awkward to use because the buttons are so close together. Further, the home screen should be more flexible or easier to manipulate for those who want to customize it. In sum, this is a great playback machine with room for improvement.

I bought this Sony blu ray player to replace a broken Samsung blu ray player. In many ways, it is a superior product, except for ONE glaring firmware issue. Certain blu ray discs formatted at 1080i50 that my Samsung (and many other products) could convert to 60 and play, the Sony cannot. It simply won't play these blu ray discs and that is a shame. I wish Sony would correct this problem because then this would be a 5-star product.
