Purchased the Blue-Ray player to take on vacation to view DVDs and log on to NetFlix. After arriving at our resort we connected two Iphones, an Ipad and a Dell laptop to the resorts wifi. We then spent considerable time trying to get the Blue-Ray player to log on to the internet. We finally had to contact the resorts IT staff for help. After another several minutes the player was connected however we could not log on to NetFlix. A message to update the software kept poping up. When clicking on update we got an error message that the player couldn't locate the Sony site. After several attempts we got the resort IT guys involved again. They couldn't get it to work. Out of frustration we gave up and put the player in the drawer for the rest of our vacation.
After returning home I had an IT friend help set up the player. After two attempts we finally were able to download the updates. It appears to be working OK. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
We have two Sony 3D player and had no trouble connecting and setting them up they are great. The jury is still out on the new player.

I have had other brands of Blu-Ray players with wi-fi that did not perform near as well as this Sony unit. I bought a different brand for my grand-daughter because it was more economical, took it back nest day and replaced it with the same Sony I bought for the living room. We love it.

We are huge movie fans. We have subscribed from Netflix for years. Often times we had to wait for the postal service to deliver a movie. Now we can watch a movie or TV series anytime we'd like with the streaming feature. The picture quality was surprising clear even while watching old black and white movies.

It stopped playing Blu-Ray discs 6 weeks after I bought it. Contacted support via chat and phone, twice they told me that they were going to send me an email with the address where to send it for replacement, still no email, I guess they're waiting for the warranty to expire so they don't have to replace it. The support person on chat gave me an Event ID and instead of putting my name with the ID he put Taylor Swift;s name with it, when I sent Sony an email about this they didn't seem to care, I think it was a big joke to them. . If I had known the support was this bad, I would have bought another brand. It's a good product as long as you don't need support from them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
