I bought this Sony Blu-ray player with wifi attached several months ago. So far I have found that it has an easy to use operating system, plays discs, both Blu-rays and DVD's very well and smoothly with excellent picture quality and I like the array of applications that are available on it.
The wifi-however, leaves something to be desired. It is positioned well within the wifi routers range but it gets a very poor signal unless it is in a particular position, a lot of streaming applications will something load slowly, or get stuck loading, and the picture quality fluctuates a fair amount depending on time of day.
Basic player features work well but power button on remote doesn't work and Netflix menu is not as easy to use as on my Samsung player. I use it wired so haven't tried the wifi. Tried to get help from Sony customer service on the remote problem but their system is frustrating and pretty well useless. I do like the small footprint and the audio and video quality of the unit so, for the right price, I would recommend it.
I purchased this model Blu-ray player because it was supposed to have enhanced Wi-Fi capabilities. It is actually worse than a 5 year old model I replaced. Otherwise simple setup and easy to use. Many, many apps.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
