These new machines require occasional software updates. But it's no problem. Just plug an Ethernet cable from your router into the back of this machine and you'll be guided through the process step by step.

Replacing a Sony gifted us from over five years ago (damaged by roving pre-school hands) and can't complain about much. The Sony network seems to be a bit spotty when connecting wirelessly so we haven't taken much advantage of this feature, but the updated menu and minimalist design are great.

Good value; however, the box appears very fragile and easy to break if dropped. Sony blueray players appear to be cheaper looking, but seem to perform what it is expected to do. I have only had it for 2 months and so far it is meeting expectations. I am only using it as a secondary player to play discs and not connected to the Internet; therefore, I am not maximizing its capabilities such as the apps.
