This thing works well for awhile and then just freezes up. Sometimes it takes an eternity for it to respond to commands from the remote (no, it's not the batteries). Sometimes it freezes for so long that I have to turn it off at the power strip and restart it. I use to be a Sony fan. Not so much anymore! I am very disappointed in Sony!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Performs well on regular DVDS, but have not used it with 3D DVDs yet. The factor which keeps me from giving it a 4 star is the placement of the on/off, forward and reverse "wheel" on top of the player. Since my player is in an enclosed cabinet, It is a real inconvenience to operate it .

While this product performs excellently, there is no screen to indicate the chapter being played on the unit itself. There is also no component in audio connection so you cannot use an older home theater unit with this player.

Utmost simplicity to connect to a modern TV set: one HDMI cable. Plays all kinds of discs with perfect fidelity. If the TV is not smart it also offers some streaming.
