A Really Great Kitchen Appliance

I recent purchased my Advantium as a replacement for one installed during a kitchen re-do in 2006. I use it almost exclusively during the summer to bake, broil, or just to re-heat left-overs. It keeps the kitchen cool, its fast, and it would hard to be without it for daily food preparation. And during the rest of the year, it simply makes cooking more enjoyable.

Multipurpose - Bake, Microwave, Grill, Toast

Perfect multipurpose appliance. I seldom use the range oven since this over the range device heats up faster and has convection air flow for fast baking.

Functions are Puzzling

Everything about the microwave is great except, by design, the time does not stay on the screen. It was a manufacturer’s decision to “save energy” so the only time it displays is when you open the door. The other issue is the vent is on top versus underneath, which has cause a short when you cook and steam rises. i may be calling for a replacement.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice features

This was part of my upgrade package for my new build home. I have only been using it a couple of months. I have not had a chance to use all of the features yet. I am very pleased that it is also a convection oven and like the interior size.

Good Product

I had my first Advantuim 17 years, a few problems but fixable. When it was not profitable to repair, I quickley purchased another. Right away I noticed it very hard to clean and the cooking time takes longer than my previous one. The metal seems soft and absorbs the splatters. The handle on the new one has a coating that is melting off. I checked the part and it says it is stainless steel. GE please! I think GE should replace mine and I would like to send a picture to prove it is melting. My first Advantium was in the same spot and never had a problem with the handle. I still recommend the product, just wish the quality and the cooking time would improve.

This appliance is installed in my motorhome. I couldn't ask for a more versatile device. Great convection oven, great microwave.

Pros still outweigh cons

I first bought an advantium in 2001 and ended up loving it. It made cooking pizzas and meals so much easier and faster. When we had to remodel our kitchen, the bisque color wasn't going to match the other new appliances, so we had to upgrade. I knew that we were going to get another one, and when I did my research, it appeared that the new model was upgraded. The menus were rearranged and I think the old configuration was better. It seems that the more commonly cooked items are buried deeper in the menus and harder to find. The new model offers a toasting option, however, even after five minutes, the bread isn't browned and doesn't develop a toasted texture. Also, sometimes it's not as warm as it would be in the toaster oven that I used to have on my countertop. I was really hoping that I could eliminate the toaster oven on my countertop with the new Advantium, however, it doesn't appear that will be the case. I was also extremely disappointed that the clock time disappears a few seconds after opening and closing the door, and is not displayed constantly. The clock on the microwave has become a staple in the kitchens, in my opinion, and I still find myself looking at the microwave in order to tell what time it is. I have to get used to looking at a different wall at my (other manufacturer) wall oven now, which *does* display the clock all the time. I will say, though, that the black tray for speed cooking or toasting is awesome. It has a better nonstick surface than the previous one that makes cleanup very easy. Even with my observed shortcomings of the appliance, I still highly recommend the Advantium.
