Great Features!

We bought our first Advantium 15 years ago. It outlived expectations but did recently break down. We purchase a new one and are very happy and impressed with its new features and ease of use. We are very happy with our new Microwave!

Great Product - needs a little tweaking!

I purchased our Advantium oven in December 2017 and was somewhat disappointed that the new model lacked some of the features and simplicity of our older model Advantium oven (from approximately 2009).
One of the new "features" is that the clock display will NOT remain turned-on, in order to save energy. How much energy can a tiny clock display take? So we did the obvious thing and purchased an additional clock for our kitchen, which probably requires more energy than the Advantium clock and definitely requires more counter top space. In defense of the manufacturer, this "upgrade" was apparently mandated by Uncle Sam, so they had to implement the change.
The controls of the new Advantium are not as intuitive as the older model. With the older model, a simple press of the main button would start the oven in most cases. We now have to set the time and power and also press a "Start" button. I guess it gives us more control over the process??? I don't know...
The "Add 30 Seconds" button is now a touch-sensitive button, rather than the metal button of yore, so we have to pause for a moment between presses, so it knows that we are serious about wanting to add 30 seconds more to our cook-time. The old metal button was fast and easy, but we'll get used to this new "feature."
On the bright side, the new Advantium is a great machine. It has more oven capacity than the older model and it has metal racks that are great for non-microwave cooking. It saves us from having to use our larger oven when preparing smaller meals, which is truly is an energy saver.
Would I purchase it again??? Absolutely - the convection-microwave combination is a great feature and no-one else does it as well.

Our third 220v Advantium!

We love it but some shortfalls. Some touchpad control panel buttons need more pressure. It needs a clock that displays all the time. The Spyeedcook recipes severely overcook, especially fish and meet. There is no recipe for rare or medium rare steaks.
Otherwise, couldn't live without it.

Appliance doesn't work

Previous Advantium worked for 16 years with no problems. New advantium was installed and has been making weird sounds that have not been able to be resolved by GE. Told to get oven unplugged in the meantime. Therefore have had limited use and waiting on decision to repair or replace.

Had this for about 3 months now and I find it very noisy. Takes 20% longer to heat anything. If you want to do something simple such as heat a cup of water, you must press microwave, dial heat by time, press dial, dial amount of time, press dial, dial power level, press dial, then press start button. Yes you can cook in it like an oven but I only see that as useful on holidays. We have used that feature once so far, just to try it. This was like buying a desktop computer because you needed to balance your checkbook. And as a bonus feature, when you close the door it sounds like you are slamming the trunk of your car closed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Keeping a Poor Design

GE has retained two "bad design" features. The Control Knob fails, after approximately 6 months of use. The Door Handle extends out into the convective heat produced by the under-range's front-right burner.

Worth Every Penny

This is a wonderful microwave and second oven. We had one that lasted 22 years before it gave up the ghost. The advances they have made make this new advantium microwave / oven even more useful. I love the new features.
We use it several times every day and even though we are retired, we splurged for this newest model.
I would recommend this to a friend!
