Worth Every Penny

We had an Advantium in our old house, and when we moved, we decided to try to live with the almost-new microwave that was already there, especially given the cost vs. typical microwaves. After a couple of months, we missed our Advantium so much that we went out and bought a new one. It's so versatile that, except for broiling, we do almost all of our traditional oven stuff in it. It's particularly good for chicken and fish, and for heating/reheating things like frozen pizzas. The new Advantium has improved controls and menus compared to what we had before, and allows for a lot of customization. It's expensive, but, to us, it's worth every penny.

Great cooking features!

I replaced old microwave with the new GE Advantium 120 three months ago. The microwave works great, it has lots of great features for warming up foods and cooking. My fav is the plate warm up...it auto detects the heat and food is always warmed perfectly, never to hot. On a down side, the reheat pasta does not work as well...too hot! Next is the convection bake...I used this for small frozen appetizers because I have a large convection oven for large items. Next is the Speed Cook function. ..I love! It came with a cook book & most recipes are for the Speed cook function. This works like an oven, broiler & microwave. But is actually cooked by upper lamps, lower lamps & microwave. Works great, but I have noticed recipe times are off by 5-10 min. I usually just press retry when time ends and it adds more time. It does not hold rectangular items for speed cook because the turntable can not be turned off during speed cook on during convection bake. Overall I highly recommend this product, food cooks great, it has more cool features than I have listed and when I use it, it does not warm my house up as much as my oven does, so it's totally convenient for California weather.

Expensive but so worth the money!

When we bought this, my husband and I were still using the old dial style microwave my parents bought me when I went to college. It took me a while to figure out the high-techness of this one, but I absolutely love it and we use it every single day. I am spoiled now and cannot imagine going back to a standard, no-frills microwave.
