It's a little intimidating, but when you get past the fear, it cooks really good food with speed cook . Learning how to set up my own recipes now

240V Advantium Microwave is Fantastic

This is the 3rd 240V GE Advantium microwave we have installed. We love it so much we installed one in each of the 3 homes we have owned over the years. The 120V version if good (I installed one in our daugher's condo), but the 240V version is more powerful and cooks much faster. I liken it to a commercial grade microwave. They last for years without problems. The Advantium can cook (microwave / convection) and brown (top and bottom halogen heating elements) food at the same time. For example a frozen pot pie out of the freezer to cooked and browned ready to eat in under 7 minutes. It has many preprogrammed cooking recipe programs you can select or you can create and save your own. We use it a lot in the summer because it doesn't generate as much heat in the kitchen as a regular oven does.

cracked handle attachment

Not yet 4 years of moderate use, and the lower handle attachment cracked in multiple pieces. No access to attachment for repair. Inferior quality plastic used in an obvious stress point. In the online Q and A, another customer who experienced this was told to call for service: 1) this is not the only time this has happened, 2) inconvenient to have to call for repairs rather than being able to replace a part.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great microwave

This unit replaced a unit just like it. The old one lasted 21 years. That’s right folks. This isn’t a type o. I wanted the same unit with the same exact dimensions. It was perfect.

I like all of the different options you can use in speedcook mode. I also like the stainless steel aspect. One tiny quirk - it doesn't show the time unless you are using it! Weird, but that's not why I only gave 4 stars. I just think it's a little too expensive.

Poor Plastic Materiaks

The issue with this Microwave is that it heats up to max temperature of 450 degrees in Convection mode. The problem is that many parts are low grade plastics which fail at these temperatures. Over 3 years I’ve had 2 handle replacements and now the selector knob is malfunctioning.

We bought our home brand new and all GE appliances were installed by the builder. We’ve been in our home since Feb. 2015 and this microwave is in our mother in law suite and it doesn’t work and we rarely use this microwave it’s hasn’t been working since 2019 . I’ve called out several repairmen and all say it needs a new mother board . The knob doesn’t work . My other microwave we needed a new door handle as it warped and our dish washer started to rust and heating element went out all of these issues under 10 year . So we just bought a new dishwasher ( I did fix the heating element) old dishwasher works . But I would not recommend GE products . They don’t last and made cheaply.

Excellent! Well worth the cost!

I got my first Advantium in the late 90's and LOVED it so when this version came out with additional features I had to have one. I can't imagine not having an Advantium and hope someday I will have a home with a kitchen that I can put an Advantium wall oven in.
Oven - microwave - all in one handy product, it cooks fast, it cooks well, I think the Advantium is ideal!
