Neat Features

Pretty neat idea for a microwave that doubles as an oven. Heats food accurately. As a comparison, we own a stand alone electric pizza oven that we use to cook homemade pizza before we purchased this oven/microware. This Advantium actually cooks our pizza better than the pizza oven. Dough is cook thoroughly even in the middle. The Pizza Oven does OK, and our standard convection oven is the lowest quality when cooking pizza.
The only downfalls that I can see are;
1. Some of the Speed Cook features really are not that much quicker than normal cooking times. For example, Crescent Rolls for the Speed Cook is the same time listed on the label for a standard oven. Same with cookies.
2. The picture shows the clock time with the assumption it's like all other microwaves and will constant show the time. This one does NOT show the time constantly. I've looked through the menu's and there is no way to constantly display the time. I have a relative that has the double oven/Advantium and there's does have an option to display the clock.
3. As with most newer products, some of the parts are quite cheap. I read an another review mention the door handle. Yes, it is plastic with a chrome look sticker that wraps around the handle. However, can't really ding GE on this too much as all other's have something similar. Would have figured they would use a multi-layered plastic with the other layer being a silver or chrome look vs. a sticker.

Cool features, very poor quality materials

Very cool features on the microwave, but very poor quality of materials used to make it. The door latch broke off very easily after getting caught on my wrist one time. This made the microwave unusable as it didn't register when the door was closed, even with the top latch still working correctly. When trying to fix this part, after purchasing the replacement part from the GE website, another plastic part of the door snapped apart. Considering the price of the microwave, you would think and hope that the materials used to make it were higher quality.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good oven

I just replaced my 14yr old Advantium with this new one. Overall it performs very well with the added feature of being able to disable the turntable for larger dishes.
However, I am very upset that the clock will not remain constant. Apparently, this is because of an "energy saving" feature mandated by the DOE. Totally ridiculous since there are numerous other appliances that consume much more power.

Main oven board died after 1-1/2 year

We purchased this oven in September 2017 and had it installed in December 2017. April 2018 the convection baking part stopped working. It is the main oven computer board that needs replacement. Part is on BACKORDER!!! And still is as of this writing!!! We are going on 6 weeks!! This is very frustrating!! I will be entertaining a large party this holiday weekend and am unable to bake some goodies for my guests. Very disappointing after spending the amount of money for this oven that we paid!! Otherwise, I do like to oven. It bakes well. It is however, difficult to keep clean especially after broiling.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my Advantium. I can reheat my dinner, cook corn on the cob, have salmon cooked perfectly, or make hamburgers. It’s my go-to appliance!
