Poor audio quality ruins otherwise decent phon
on July 20, 2011

My brand new HTC HD7S has a horrible problem with audio feedback. The problem was so bad on the first call I made that I had to end the call because it actually hurt my ears. I have tried several more phone calls, and each one has such bad high-pitched feedback that I cannot tolerate the terrible sound. This is a real shame because I had, after much careful decision, decided on this phone over the iPhone 4 (it is a company phone).
Therefore, due to extremely poor audio quality, I cannot recommend this otherwise decent phone.
Pros: Wi-Fi capable, large screen
Cons: audio feedback, high-pitched audio squeal
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very nicely designed phone!

I love technology and it seems that any time something new comes out I have to have it! This phone is designed for ease of use and to tie social media into the fabric of the experience. It does this exceptionally and is just fun to use. I have read in other reviews that the battery life is an issue but I can tell you coming from the Motorola Atrix, this phone is better than average. This is a great phone, one that I most certainly will have for a while.
Pros: tools, menus, games, speaker, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting
Cons: lack of third party apps
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fast and easy to use

the HD7S is one of the two best of the new Windows Phones. The Samsung focus has a better screen but this one makes up for it in size. The OS is fast, easy to use and easy to discover. With the update coming in the fall it will be competitive with the other smartPhone OS available. Having used android and iOS Windows Phone has the best virtual keyboard available. If you want a smartphone but don't want to have to "learn" how to use it, try out a Windows Phone. As with all SmartPhones the battery life is not great, but if you properly cycle the battery (run it completely down until it dies) a few times it gets better. I get a whole day with WiFi and Bluetooth on all the time. Still my wifes focus gets two days.
People are complaining about limited memory yet this Phone comes with 16GB, the same as the base capacity iPhone.
also if you download the HTC Sound Enhancer the speaker leve improves but volume is still subpar.
Pros: menus, games, Wi-Fi capable, durable, ease of use, good for texting, keyboard
Cons: battery life, speaker
I would recommend this to a friend!

Get excited, but don't get too excited...

The HTC HD7S is a bit heavy (not that I mind) and the extra large screen makes it bulkier than most other phones (not that mind), so when you want to take the web-famous bathroom-mirror portrait, you'll find that you'll need two hands to hold the camera steady to avoid the equally famous "blurred" picture (I mind a little, but not enough to bash the phone).
Make sure you buy a case! Once you hold the phone in your hands, you'll see why.
The very top part of the screen was slightly unresponsive to touch (I experienced this with two different HTC HD7S's) and this can be annoying when trying to tap on the Facebook apps' notification icon or when you want to see your battery/connection that hides at the top of your screen.
The screen itself is beautiful. This may just be my own preference but I found the quality remarkable. The kick stand was convenient, but feels a little flimsy. I haven't broken it yet, but considering the phone toppled over while trying to balance it on its stand with the power cord connected, I don't expect it to last long. The speakers are good, just remember it's a cell phone, not your Bose home theater system.
On a design note, I do wish the volume controls were on the left side of the phone rather than the right, and the headphone jack being at the base of the phone is a bit awkward.
WINDOWS Mobile 7
WM7 is new, so you're going to be missing out on a lot of applications you'll see your friends on. You get the basics (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube), but other apps that were so convenient (My bank, Grindr, some company apps) are just not there yet. Give it time though. New apps are constantly being added to the Zune marketplace.
WM7 does a great job integrating social networking sites like Facebook and (obviously) Windows Live. Downloading the Facebook app is really optional. You can view, comment, post media from your "People" tile. This definitely cuts the amount of time you spend on your phone in half. (The "really?" commercial was right).
The OS is very fluid and has a "less is more" feel to it. It is very simple without feeling cheap.
The Microsoft Office integration as well as the XBox Live platform are highly convenient, and the HTC HD7S screen gives you more room to work and play in.
Personalization only goes as far as changing the picture of your locked screen and a limited tile color scheme. Ring tones are plenty, but you don't get the option of adding your own.
(Note: there is a new version of WM7 coming out in Fall '11. Not sure what will be updated).
Overall, I recommend this phone for people trying to get away from small screens, Apple, awkward touch screen keyboards and looking for a phone that is productive, fun to play with, and great for viewing/taking pictures and video.
Pros: menus, games, camera/video quality, speaker, ease of use, good for texting
Cons: battery life, bulky/heavy, lack of apps
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love it
on September 5, 2011

I have used this device for two weeks, and love it.
I want to post a review here primarily because I noticed the complaints about the battery life. I have found that keeping the Bluetooth on reduces the battery life by at least 50% (more like 60% - 70%). I have pinned Settings to the front so I can turn on/off the Bluetooh easily. I usually keep the Bluetooth off.
Pros: tools, menus, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, camera/video quality
Cons: bluetooth draining battery fast
