I have been bar~b~queing, broiling, cooking, grilling and smoking all kinds of meat and food for over 50 years with charcoal and wood. I have never owned a gas grill and probably never will. Since I live in an apartment and national fire safety codes forbid any kind of cooking apparatus using open flame or ember (charcoal, wood and wood chips) within 6 feet of any multiple family dwelling I began to research "Electric" grills online. the Charbroil TRU-Infrared unit had the highest consumer satisfaction rating of almost every make except for the very expensive models. I have had it for a little more than a year and use it 5 times or more per week. While nothing can match the wonderful outdoor flavor of wood or charcoal the Charbroil TRU-Infrared does a good job with most foods I have tried with it. I have found that by using a good "Liquid Smoke" product like Wrights Liquid Smoke brushed on meats I can get a decent smoke flavor. The grill is easy to clean using a water spray bottle and wire brush made for grills. This works best when the grill is still hot!

Great for electric

Works well, but as with all electric grills must minimize time the lid is open and allow longer cook times. The other bad reviews clearly have not used an electric grill because this is as good as it gets for electric. Perfect for condos or apartment patios! Usually have to leave it on 5 for everything to get cooked through perfect for me!

Perfect for a condo

It was easy to put together and more than easy to use. I use it several times a week - my cooktop doesn't get much of a workout! Next thing to learn is how to cook pizza on it.

What a disappointment

It does not heat up past 450. Poor buy on my part I believed manufacturer. Big Mistake

Grilling newbie :) (At 44!!!)

I've had my grill for less than two weeks and have grilled hamburgers, kielbasa, hotdogs, chicken breasts, corn on the cob and other veggies to perfection. I've never cooked on a grill before (fire freaks me out!) and this little gem is SO easy to use. I'll never have anything but a Char-Broil Tru-Infrared grill....Y-U-M!!!

Miss the blue one

I bought this model at the beginning of the summer. I have found that the grill is very hard to clean and it flames up quickly if I don't completely clean it every time. The blue on with the ceramic briquettes was much eaier to use and keep clean.

We're sorry to hear of the issues encountered. How are you normally cleaning your grill? We recommend a nylon brush and warm soapy water or biodegradable grill cleaner.
