Big Disappointment

For the last several years I was a blackberry user. Not really a fan but it worked and accomplished all that I needed done. It was stable and became easy to use. BUT...... I wanted more. The android world was full of so much more so I made the leap. I chose the Droid Charge over the other phones primarily for the 4g features. Unfortunately 4g is not in many places other then the big cities. I live along the Lake Erie shoreline and only 3g is available and unfortunately Verizon has really poor service here. I had to buy an extender just to use the phone....Yikes...Now the phone itself has one nice feature, the fact that it has a large screen. It just about stops there though. I have to reboot it daily, it does not sync up with facebook well, it locks up if you try to do more then one thing at a time, the touch screen is extremely sensitive at times and then at other times, it doesn't react at all. and oh yes, the side buttons do not always work. It's large screen is both a plus (visually) and a minus (it's way to big for any of the holsters to work well). In sunlight it is hard to read even at it's brightest level. You can't assign individual ringtones to text messages, only to calls. Battery life is terrible, you definitely need a couple extra batteries. I expected a lot more from this phone and it is only poor to average compared to the others.
Pros: Realistic color, large screen
Cons: Too big, Did not meet expectations, instable operating system, not customizable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The phone itself is awesome. The configuration it's locked down with when you buy it on a Verizon plan is not. As a matter of fact, it's one of the worst. It comes with somewhere around 100 apps pre-installed that cannot be uninstalled given the limited configuration access that owners are given. Some of these apps take a considerable amount of storage space. Most of them launch and reside in memory when you turn the phone on, slowing it down and draining the battery.
I would have given it 5 stars otherwise--besides the insane number of apps pre-loaded, it's a great phone with performance and features that put it at the top of its class. It's got great processing hardware for a single-core setup, incredible display and graphical capabilities, solid touch support, great battery life, and all on a solid design foundation. The only design beef I have is the case: I would have gone with a slightly more durable plastic or even a metal.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: too many pre-loaded apps

Brilliant Display

Samsung demonstrates again how it masters electronic displays...bright, clear, and the envy of other manufacturers. Every Droid owner who has seen my Samsung Charge has fallen in love with it - 4 converts to date have switched.
While initially a battery life of a smart phone is something to get used to, the life on the Charge seems to exceed what I have observed or heard reported.
The Android platform combined with this marvel of technology makes this choice a no-brainer!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color
Cons: audio could be a little crisper.
I would recommend this to a friend!

overal very good phone, could use dure core processor for fast speed of operation and poor power button location need improve. compare to my old phone (droid global 2) i like this phone due to lightweight and large screen. better battery life.

Beautiful display! Battery life stinks!

So far I've had this phone about a week. The dislplay is mesmerizing and brilliant. The apps are great and the camera is phenomenal. I've had some trouble receiving Oz mail, but it's fixed now. Also had trouble downloading MMS pics, but figured it out. The battery life stinks.....Samsung you need to fix this pronto.....it's a REAL big problem. Otherwise the phone is awesome!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: horrible battery life.
I would recommend this to a friend!
