Do not buy!

Oh where to start? In many ways I feel this phone is a DOWNGRADE from my Droid 1. Charge comes with 2.2.0 and instantly has an update to 2.2.1. The D1 is at 2.2.2. Some very important features missing from the charge are; Status LED, Camera Button, and a very poor built in speaker. The user interface is ok. Some suggestions to Samsung - Let me delete some of the unused programs you installed in MY phone, home screen should rotate with phone. Allow user to customize bottom 4 soft keys.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, no camera hard button, no status led, way to expensive, poor ram, undeletable programs

Dumped the BlackBerry

As the Head of Information Technology for many companies I've been with BlackBerry for a many number of years. I wasn't really looking for a new phone but decided to see what was out there since I had dropped the phone and broken the on/off switch. I compared the BlackBerry, iPhone and Droid. All were close in cost and basic features but the fast 4G, and ability to get fast/reliable GPS without having the get a separate GPS device for my car was the big draw for me. There is a product option that allows me to cradle the phone in my car and use it as a GPS.
The phone is light weight, VERY fast, easy use, and the GPS works great through several free software products. Once I got used to the new feel and made adjustments to the setup, I am one HAPPY camper. The phone is AWESOME!
I say bad three times as I am on my 3rd Droid charge! The first one failed to work before I got out of the verizon store...they gave me a new one. I just had to exchange my 2nd phone because it dropped calls, sounded like a fax machine screeching sound when trying to talk on it. and the touch screen didn't work all the time. I just got the 3rd one and it is even worse than the first two. My daughter bought the Charge the same week as me and can't even use it most of the time because of the dropped calls and terrible screeching noise. She is on her 2nd replacement. We've been complaining since the first week we purchased it, but the Verizon staff told us it was a software problem and to be patient. Three of the staff have a Droid Charge and they are having trouble too!!! What is going on???
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, samsung won't fix these!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I won't ever by another Samsung Android phone again for one simple reason: They never update! How frustrating. I'm now 2 updates behind (No Gingerbread, and No Ice Cream Sandwich). This phone has basically been abandoned. If you're thinking about buying one... don't do it!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, never updated

I was a happy customer with my charge. The usb plug in is in an awkward position- but so was the original droid, no big deal. It freezes between home screens ever so slightly, again no big deal. The camera is fantastic. This is the best part of this phone. But, I wanted a phone not a camera. Using the apps like google maps or even texting requires patience. They take time to load. It's a slow phone. Now we have an update that recently happened and the already low quality speaker is even WORSE. When i actually hear the ring, which is maxed it's so quiet i can barely hear it til the last ring which by the last ring it's actually loud enough to hear it. I am severely disappointed. I have another year to deal with this or buy a different phone at full price.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, awesome camera
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, very low quality speaker, very slow
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

One of the best phones if you plan to pay for it but never use it. If you plan on getting any calls forget it. If you plan on using hotspot forget that to. Updates non existent!!!!! Total piece of garbage.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, does not work, drops network all the time, battery has short life, poor support, no ice cream sandwich
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Serious design flaw: preinstalled bloatware cannot be moved or deleted
on May 18, 2011

Very nice phone. However, you cannot customize the order of the icons. There are two full screens of preinstalled apps, and you cannot delete the ones you do not want (Lets Golf) or organize the useful ones (Google).
This is a case of marketing trumping useability.
I will try it for a few days and see if I can live with the bloat.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: bloatware forever

I have been nothing but disappointed since I purchased this phone about 6 months ago. I feel like I spend my life waiting on it. I consider myself quite technology-literate, and I have done lots of research and spent lots of time trying to "tweak" the apps and settings so it is "optimized". It takes about 5-10 seconds to load the icons on the screen every time I wake the device. It has been this way from day one, before I ever started adding apps to it. I have been quite dissatisfied from the beginning, but not nearly as much as I have been since the recent device update was applied about a month ago. Since the device update, the phone reboots itself multiple times a day, which can sometimes be quite embarrassing when that noisy "DROID" sound plays. It also consistently reboots either during phone calls or immediately after. If my life depending on being able to make a call quickly, I would surely die, because I always have to wait at least 10 seconds, and sometimes up to 5 minutes to get it to make a call. Maybe I got a lemon, I don't know. But I have been very unhappy with it. I have done everything I can think of short of resetting to factory defaults. That may be the next step, or I may just throw it in the trash and buy something else. Good luck!
