"junk" I was forced to change carriers more or less forced to verizon. this was the only smart phone the store had in stock, so I took it . freezes up constantly , drops calls all the time , lets not talk about battery life. the only good thing I can find to say for it is it makes a decent paper weight.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Charge needs a constant charge

After using my Samsung Charge Android phone for the past month, I must say I’m very disappointed in it. First, may I say I’m quite experienced in mobile devices and computers, being in IT for 30 years and having owned over 15 smartphones over the years. On the pro side, the Charge has a nice display, and 4G data service is REALLY fast when it’s available, which for me isn’t too often. The data service is more reliable in that it doesn’t get clogged like another carrier's 3G service does in major metro areas. I haven’t had a dropped call yet. And I get access to the filesystem. Now, on to the problems. The Charge uses battery power amazingly fast. I couldn’t go more than 8 hours of minimal use with the standard battery. With the extended battery, which weighs a lot and makes the handheld huge, only goes about 14 hours before being at 10%. And I don’t even have WiFi or Bluetooth or GPS or mobile hotspot turned on, and have few data sync apps going. It can barely keep the same charge when powered through a USB port or a car battery. Only with the AC adapter will it charge more quickly, and even that takes 3x as long as my BlackBerry. The user interface is very slow and inconsistent. It takes a good five seconds to get to the phone screen after pressing the phone icon. Entering a calendar entry start time took me 20 sec once while the phone was doing who knows what. No, I haven’t loaded on any malware or CPU-hogging apps. Button presses don’t always take, or if they do there’s no change while it thinks, so I don’t know that it recognized the press and I press again. Updating an app fails about half the time. Apps crash regularly, including mainstream ones. The GPS is next to useless; it can take 10 minutes to acquire a signal and start doing turn-by-turn directions. The camera is so-so, but it regularly gives moiré patterns, and it crashes the whole phone if I use the flash (I have to reboot). When I turn off the sound, apps still can make sounds. I need a separate file transfer app that rarely works the second time after a reboot. The On button is poorly placed opposite the volume button, so I often press it when pressing the volume button. Sometimes I can’t answer a call; I swipe to accept it but the screen is totally unresponsive. The data service often goes between 4G, 3G, and 1X all within 20 minutes of sitting in the exact same spot. You have to kludge together Outlook integration with a couple different apps that are hard to configure, whereas it’s easy on the idevice. The mail app UI is pretty bad. Voice quality is warbly. I can’t believe I’m going to have to live with this thing for two years!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst DROID I've ever owned!

I am so disappointed in this phone! I have rarely given a poor review on a product, but I have very little GOOD to say about this phone...
First, the pro's. The display is absolutely gorgeous and the UI is very simple. It's light and feels good in your hand. Sound clarity is crisp and clear. I LOVE the 8 mp camera - best pictures I've ever taken with a phone cam. Video is very good also...
Now, the cons... The battery performance is the absolute WORST I've ever seen. Within 30 minutes of taking it off the charger, it has lost >20% of the charge. One phone call for 10 minutes can use up another 20-25%. Within 4-6 hours, its back on the charger at least once/day and sometimes twice/day...
It freezes up regularly and has to be hard booted at least once a week. I've only had the phone for 3 months and had to factory reset it twice. At any given time, it will go HAYWIRE and I'll lose most of the apps I've downloaded, including the ones I paid for.
THANK GOD I only have to wait 5 more days to upgrade! I'll never buy another Samsung phone... I'm going back to Motorola as soon as the store opens Thursday morning!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, easy user interface
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, the absolute worst battery performance i've seen!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall the charge is a good phone. Only thing missing is a notification led. I really miss this feature as most all phones have this. Battery life is fair at best. Battery life is on average with other smart phones in it's class. Power button is on the side and will push easily. I am constantly hitting it and turning it off or on, and should be placed on the side.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, smooth operation.
Cons: no led notification.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What DOES work on this phone?
on October 25, 2011

In the 4 months I have had this phone, I have yet to get it to work the way it says it works. The phone will not hold a GPS signal and drops the data connection frequently. The phone resets itself quite frequently as well. After speaking to Verizon numerous times they admit that the phone has many issues that cannot be fixed until Samsung fixes them. I wonder if it will ever be fixed.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have other Samsung electronics but the Charge phone is no good. The battery dies very quickly and the phone constantly restarts. I've had signal issues and display issues as well. I wish I could trade in this phone and switch to another phone. Do not buy this phone.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Would not recommend!
on December 6, 2011

This by far has been the worst phone I have ever owned. It freezes on a regular basis and half the time the only way I can get it back up and running is to remove the battery to reboot. Bluetooth connectivity has been a big issue also. Battery life is terrible. Always have to make sure a charger is close by. I would not recommend this phone.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, battery life, bluetooth issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent phone. A+A+A+. Have not had any issues at all- great performance and design.
Lots of great apps. Watch full-length movies in its large LCD screen when I exercise thru Samsung Media Hub application.
Great battery life.
Lots of memory with 32G SD card.
Great front and back cameras. Can "video" Skype!
Strongly recommend.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: none that i can think!
I would recommend this to a friend!
