choose a different model

The print is lovely, the speed is great. However. It keeps breaking. Major parts keep breaking. It is very expensive to fix. and it goes through more ink than I expected. I am not fixing it again. I will buy a different more reliable model.

Great Printer

This printer has been great for us. It's a little loud and that is the only reason it doesn't have five stars. I needed a printer that could print in color on transparency and have a nice crisp print. It does that and is very fast.

Thank you for your review, PrinterLove.

You may be happy to hear that based on customer feedback we recently released a firmware update for the ColorQube 8570/8870 that includes Sound Reduction mode, lowering the sound generated during the printing process.

The firmware update is available for download through this link: http://xrx.sm/Bh0.
Directions for enabling the feature upon download, as well as details about the update, can be found here: http://xrx.sm/Bhz.

I hope this helps improve your experience with the ColorQube 8570.

solid ink is great

i bought this printer to replace a dying HP2600n. i have been a fan of solid ink printers ever since i first saw the technology in action. the colors are accurate, clear, and of better quality than i had ever seen in a toner based machine.
also, the convenience of the solid ink blocks is amazing. they are tiny in comparison to the size of toner cartridges, and the cost per page is excellent as well. another great feature of solid ink technology is the almost total elimination of waste. toner cartidges, particularly color toner cartridges, almost never produce their full rated capacity. color toner cartridges also have a very common tendency to die early. solid ink does not; you get to use every last bit. all that's left is a little pile of waste resin that you have to toss every once in a while.
given my choice, as long as there is a solid ink unit available that will solve my problem, i will always buy it over a toner based machine.

Wonderful addition to our office

We've had our ColorQube 8570 for several months now and could not be happier with it. The speed at which it prints our documents and the color quality is fabulous. The Solid Ink technology has saved us money as we don't have to reorder as much as when we were using a printer with toner cartridges. All in all, a wonderful printer!

Nice printer, no jams

Just got a replacement Colorqube 8570DN printer on warranty service for a Phaser 8560DN. Really like the printer. Works well with CUPS and Linux workstations in our lab. I recommend the printer for those focused on light steady printing in an heterogenous workstation environment. The duplex option saves on paper and is fast on print time. The printer is a bit noisy when printing. Ink costs seem about the same to the Phaser line so far. Had the printer for a couple of months now and no problems have cropped up yet.

Best printer in the segment

I love the quality of the prints this machine produces. I really like the texture of the resin on the page. The texture has a more luxurious look and feel than anything an ink jet or laser printer can create. This is not a photo quality printer but it does create rich, bright colors with sharp graphics and text. Interestingly, the output of this printer looks great on a variety of paper weights and qualities. I use this printer at home. As a reference, I have been fairly dissatisfied with the printers that are typically sold at large volume retail outlets. That includes the high end color laser printers that I've used from these vendors. I think the colorqube 8570 is a step above the competition.

Disappointed

My designs looked good on the screen, but when not when printed. I tried downloading different drivers. No change. I tried looking at the print settings, letting the printer be in charge of printing, and letting the software dictate the printing setup. Nothing changed. Once in a while I get what I want.

Professional looking print quality AND environmentally friendly!

The ColorQube 8570 is my second solid ink printer, as I upgraded from a Phaser 8550. I love the glossy, professional look of everything I print. Besides my own personal correspondence, I use the ColorQube for creating materials for the students I teach and tutor, and also for print materials for my dance classes. I've learned that it is very important to select the specific type of paper being used (such as cardstock), and not to print any color in spaces where writing will occur, as writing tools don't work very well over the waxy ink. It is also necessary to use lower heat (or quicker speed) when laminating, as colors may bleed a bit. But, the ink never bleeds if it gets wet, a big plus. The ink sticks are expensive, but last a very long time. I wouldn't have any other printer!
