Great for everyday printing. Fairly easy to set up. We use it mostly for smaller documents but we are very satisfied with it.

Not Ready for Large workgroups

New unit purchased and installed in a workgroup of 28 people. Initial impression was it took a long time to initially boot/warm up. Installed driver on all machines. Monday the first day of its service a 50 page print job was sent to it and it stopped on page 17. Flipping the power switch did nothing and the control panel was non-responsive. Had to unplug the power cable due to the device not being seen on the network either. The device Yesterday 01/07/2014 did more of the same throughout the day requiring power cycles. Finally at the end of the day it totally stopped working and a blank display screen with no lights was the end product. So I spent most of the night after hours having to re-route the users to another printer in the building. Very disappointed and sending it back.

Overall - Best quality color printer

Although I could never afford one of these for home use; this has to be one of the best color printers I have seen. The ink, although initially pricey, lasts a long time and is very easy to use/install. There is no messy toner, or cartridges to worry about. The quality of the prints only improve with the quality of the photo. The pages can be touched basically immediately for use, with no major fear of smearing. Although the sound may be a little loud when printing, you know it's working hard to give you what you want/need. Everyone in this office, or who visits loves the quality. Our only real problem is that people use it for everyday things, and black and white print jobs; because they want the quality always.

Great Color; Expensive Ink

When my Xerox Phaser 8560 DN began to show its age (used it for about 6 years), I added the Colorqube 8570 DN. The color output is very nice - much better than the 8560 (which I thought was pretty good until I saw the 8570 output). As others have noted, this printer is a bit noisy, but I am accustomed to its creaks, groans, and feeding noises. The 8570 may even be a bit quiter than the 8560. ;-}
The cost of ink is a bit of a shocker with this printer. Perhaps my documents use more color than the price per copy comparisons show. Plus, when the printer "thinks" it is low on ink - I seem to use more yellow than any other color - the printer will notify you that it is low on one or more colors, and will finally refuse to print until you add more ink. I learned this the "hard" way recentely...even though I could still see that the printer had a full stick of yellow, it refused to print until I added more - which I had to order. Because of Hurricane Sandy, delivery was a bit delayed from my online supplier.
Fortunately, I had my 8560 as a backup printer. I'm still evaluating the cost per page for the 8570...overall it seems to be a reliable, relatively fast #even in duplex mode#, printer with great color quality. Just wish the ink would come down in pricing...one set of ink costs more than the printer!

Has issues with 500+ page print runs and really eats up the ink sticks
on November 12, 2013

When I purchased this ColorQube 8570DN, I ordered, what I calculated to be, a year's worth of ink sticks, based on Xerox's claim of 4400 pages per box of 2 sticks and the number of pages I typically print in a year. In less than 4 months, with fewer than 5000 pages printed, I have gone through almost all my ink sticks! The documents I print are only spot color, letters with a logo or b/w booklets and reports. I am stunned and HUGELY disappointed in how quickly the sticks have been consumed. Yes, the printer price was lower than a comparable laser printer, the printer is pretty fast, after upgrading the RAM to 2GB (and up until the 500th or so page in a large print job, when it gets r...e....a....l....l...y... slow until it cools down enough to go fast again), and I like that there are no cartridges to recycle... but this is NOT an economical printer in the long run.

This is the wost printer I have ever bought. It is expensive, the ink is expensive and after one year and less than 4000 copies the quality of the prints have degraded, Bought a new maintenance kit, didn't fix the problem. Lost a lot of money a most of all a lot of time with this heavy machine.

If anything like 8400, run!

Folks at Xerox probably won't publish this review, even though I was sent an email asking for one—partly because I have an older product (Phaser 8400), but mostly because of the bad experience. Printer was great when first out of the box, although solid ink problems existed from the outset. Ink smears long after printing, especially if, say, a postcard must go through the Postal Service. Where their machines roll over printed sections, ink smudges and comes right off. Colors very easily and quickly fade in sunlight, especially reds. Perhaps worse, however, is the declining print quality over time, apparently especially if not used substantially each and every day. Even after significant dealer repairs (for color and jams), once color begins to degrade, it's gone. Can still get color prints, but except for small color ranges, it becomes impossible to match or print desired colors. For instance, if blue tint, no amount of Photoshop adjustment can remove it—even completely removing all apparent blues from the file. Over time, the printer simply couldn't maintain color fidelity. This printer never used other than original Xerox color cube solid inks, but after the first year or two was never again able to reproduce colors as defined, so the printer itself and not individual color cubes prove to be the problem for shifting color casts, which in many cases are severe. If you need a printer that provides true color, steer clear of these, unless you're willing to replace them on a yearly basis, or unless Xerox has fixed the basic technology in a major way in the newest color cube models.
