Environmentally friendly

I like the ink and using a "green" product. However, it's important to note, that no matter how good a printer is, garbage in is garbage out and is not the printer's fault.
I prefer this product over a laser because of the lower environmental impact. I've only had for a month so I'm still learning about this printer and all it can do. I own the Colorcube 8570DN so I can efficiently print on both sides (save paper that way).

Better than HP

I had an HP with four toner cartridges. The print quality was OK but this is better. I'm not hung up about the environment but I do like the ink, even if it is more expensive. Running on a Macintosh network, I had some problems out of the box because the software had not been upgraded for Snow Leopard. Once I got the upgraded software, I was running on the network with great ease. Two things for me are not good. If you are hung up with the environment, better watch out because if you hit the wrong button on the menu pad, the thing starts spitting out papers that pertain to the network, the number of pages, the printer settings and a bunch of stuff I don't need to know every time. Just waste paper. Secondly, the worst thing about this printer is IT IS VERY NOISY. Gosh, the HP was three times quieter than this Xerox.

Had three of these and they've all broken

We originally purchased two of these printers. They worked fine for just over 12 months. We powered them down to move them and they never came back to life. Having had visit from an engineer we were told the power units had failed in both printers and to replace them, it would cost more than a new printer.
We bit the bullet and order a third. Yesterday we powered it down to move it.... Guess what the same thing happened.
For a company like Xerox this is quite unacceptable!

Xerox solid ink won me over
on March 19, 2012

We got this printer to replace a still fairly new laser printer that had broken down due to a label sticking to the transfer belt. I was very skeptical about solid ink, but having read Xerox's literature on it, the reviews here and elsewhere, and because the strength's of solid ink seemed to matchup pretty well to what we were printing color for, I decided to give it a shot.
Well, I'm convinced now. The print quality is fantastic. The color is very rich and vibrant. Results so far indicate that we are using FAR less solid ink to print similar numbers of pages than we were toner. The fast processor, spacious RAM, and true Adobe PostScript3 on this thing ensure that it tears through even the toughest jobs with little waiting.
Its not without some "getting used to" though. I'd recommend tweaking the warmup schedule to your needs. For us, I have it set to warmup at 8am and go to sleep at 6pm, and I've got "Fast Resume" enabled. I've yet to have anyone complain about waiting for it to warmup. If you do lose power, expect to waste some ink as this thing will run its cleaning program. To combat that I put a UPS on it, that should eliminate short power drops causing problems and give me enough time to shut it down if its going to be an extended outage. I also find print speed to be slightly slower than with a color laser printer. You won't get anywhere near Xerox's claimed 40ppm unless you're using "Fast Color" mode. However the speed is comparable to what you'd get from color laser printers at similar resolutions, and the fast processor and spacious RAM mean this printer usually has rendered and started on the job long before our color laser would have, so it evens things out.
Overall, I highly recommend Xerox's ColorQube 8570, and I hope they continue developing solid ink technology, there's definitely a place for it in the market. But please, do your research first, as solid ink is not the same as a toner based product, it has advantages and disadvantages, and you need to figure out if it fits with your needs or not.

Not completely happy

The print quality from my ColorQube 8570 is great even though warm up seems to take forever. My problem is that it’s excessively noisy and Xerox does not offer any type of sound box for this printer. I’ve researched other acoustic covers and I’ve been unsuccessful in finding one big enough for this monster. There’s no way I can sit at my desk and carry on a normal telephone conversation while printing documents, infact it’s difficult to carry on a normal toned conversation with individuals who come to my office while I'm printing. I’ve even noticed the people in neighboring offices close or partially close their doors when I am doing a lot of printing as it’s also annoying to them. Xerox…if you’re going to make such a noisy printer, could you at least also give us options to somewhat conceal the noise? I do not recommend this printer for environments that require a low noise level.

Thank you for your review, shanni4u.

Based on customer feedback, we recently released a firmware update for the ColorQube 8570/8870 that includes Sound Reduction mode, lowering the sound generated during the printing process.
The firmware update is available for download through this link: http://xrx.sm/Bh0, and details about the update can be found here: http://xrx.sm/Bhz.

In regards to your warm-up concerns, your device may be set to warm up when you first print. We have solutions that include the option to have it warm up at a set time, or through our patented Intelligent Ready power management feature, which "learns" your unique print usage patterns.
Here is a short link with more details and directions for administering warm up settings: http://xrx.sm/Biy.

I hope this helps improve your experience with the ColorQube 8570.

Fine quality, consistently at good speed

I've owned a Xerox wax printer before and loved it. The ColorCube is in that family and is a proud successor to my old printer. It is easy to use and fill with ink. The colors and images are consistently crisp and bright. It's a little noisy but considering the size, not bad, and it sits immediately beside me so I hear every sound. I'm happy with the purchase and would make the same decision again.

Not worth the headache

I had an 8560 which work great. There was nothing but problems with the 8570: 1. shipped for the wrong region, couldn't add ink until someone finally cam to service.
2. labels are way off registration
3. anything within a graphic that is supposed to be pure white has a light tint to it (ie: excel graphs are a slight yellow inside the entire graph box)
4. PS drivers does not print a pure yellow but he PCL one does.
5. Very slow drivers as compared to the 8560.
Don't buy until the problems are corrected. I'm going to return this one.
