Fabulous!

This is a slick machine that does it all effortlessly. Whether faxing, copying or printing, it never lets me down. It was easy to install, too. The front panel screen is a great guide. Another plus is that the machine is manufactured in the US and all customer service is handled here as well. That makes a difference - it's good to know that some companies haven't outsourced jobs. Way cool Canon!
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use

Like the printer, hate the ink

This printer uses 5 ink cartridges. Two of them are black and both are different sizes. The 225 cartridge is half the size of the 226. Canon set the printer to draw black ink from the smaller cartridge first so it runs out faster than if the printer defaulted to the larger black cartridge. Additionally, when the black 226 runs out you can't print ANYTHING in any color even though the larger 225 cartridge is full of black ink. Extraordinarily frustrating! Most printers will draw from whatever cartridge that has ink in it, even if it then prints in all yellow, for instance. I much prefer that than getting a completely blank page, especially when all of the other inks are full and there's a black one it could draw from if only Canon had built it to do so!

Ipad print compatibility
on November 22, 2011

Marketed works with Ipad2. Note this, after downloading the Canon app, it will only print photos. Also, only prints from the manual load tray in the back. It will not print from the web, documents, etc. It is not AirPrint compatible. Other than that set up was easy, wi-fi works as it should with our Desktop PC & laptops. If you have an Ipad, you'll want to further explore printers as this only does part of the job.
Pros: wi-fi set up was easily done.
Cons: not a true ipad printer

Nothing but frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god, who ever programed this thing....It has by far the worst software I have ever seen. A maze of features, impossible to navigate, frustrating idiotic error messages, eternal processing time, I mean what processor is it using??? seriously?! My printing time is spent mostly tearing my hair out and running back and forth between the computer and the printer, solving ridiculous problems that other printers automatically resolve. Oh, and did I forget, it guzzles ink! even when printing black and white it somehow uses up color ink !?
Pros: works
Cons: slowwwwwwwww.., poor softvare

Excelent Multifunction Printer

I am using this as a wireless printer and have had absolutely no problems with the wireless connection. It has stayed connected since the day I set it up. It has printed everything that I have sent to the printer with no problems. The scanner is easy to use whether from the computer or at the printer. Duplex copying or printing is a breeze and such a savings on paper. I use duplex printing frequently, expecially if there is more than 2 pages to print. I find the text sharp and good color saturation when printing. The ink seems to be holing up well, I have gone through more than 250 sheets of paper since I purchased the printer and I am still using the ink tanks included with the puchase. I have not printed any photos yet, so I can't say as to the print quality on pictures.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

2nd choice is the right choice

It was my intent to purchase the MX870, my first choice. After reading the reviews my concern I had with it was the speed so while at the store I noticed the MX882 for about the same price (actually less) so I asked the reason for the difference in price and was told this was the newer model (?). After running a few copies thru both the speed and colors on the MX882 won out. Everything has worked well, pictures have come out reasonbly sharp, the fax and scanner work well. I only wish I had more confidence in the front tray because it feels like it's gonna break at any time. I'm a realtor and a lot of what I do is from home so I need a good reliable printer and I feel I have one.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, fast print speed, easy to use, good price
Cons: flimsy paper tray

This is a lot of machine in a small footprint. My wife uses the printer for a lot of photographs and printing the newsletter for her office. I am in real estate and really need high quality scanning and fax capability to transmit contracts. This thing does it all and does it all well and for a value price.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use, general quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very easy wireless set up, prints documents well. Remember one thing though, this is not a true photo printer. Photo quality is passable at best. I am coming from a pixma 6000, which was an awesome photo printer, go with a product that specifically is made as a photo printer. Otherwise ,all good.
