only lasted 2 years

I am now forced to look for yet another printer. This printer stopped feeding paper. Printers this price should last more than 2 years. And I agree with a previous review, this printer uses all the colors even if you are printing in grayscale. And it goes through a lot of ink doing so.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

unreliable; expensive ink

Front panel controls often freeze up and printer needs to be rebooted to regain access.
No linux support. No google cloud print support.
Ink cartridges are nearly identical to the MP600 this replaced, but you get less ink for the same price.
Pros: Super-sharp images
Cons: Poor build quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Purchased 2 years ago and it still performs flawlessly. The colour photos are excellent, and no issues with wireless printing. I have even made t-shirt transfers as well. They came out as expected with great quality.
Pros: Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
I would recommend this to a friend!

This all in one printer has been the right fit for my families needs. We can scan, fax, copy, edit, and print. The built in features work well across of the various computer/technology driven platforms in our home.
A great deal.
Wireless technology is great.
I have even printed from work to this printer at the house.

Disappointed

The printer simply shut off during a print never to turn on again. It only worked approximately 7 months.

This WAS my favorite printer for 2 years.

I loved this printer until it just shut off during printing. The repair shop told me the print head shorted out and that blew out the board. He said it would cost more to repair it than the cost of a new printer. It seems there is an ongoing problem with Canon's printheads. I did purchase a new Canon printer but only spent 1/2 the cost of the original one. There definitely a difference in quality but won't spend the money for a throw away printer.

Only had this printer a couples of years and the print head died. Cost of new head almost the same as a new printer. Planned obsolescence?

Big Mistake

During setup I chose black & white (B&W) printing as my default option; I’m a student and do a lot of printing and copying. I had the printer for a little over a month when all three color inks ran out. Aside from the set up test page, the only other time color was used, I had printed three copies of my resumé with a colored template border. Canon’s support site was unhelpful in describing why this was happening. I discovered through reviews on an unaffiliated support site, that although you can select B&W printing, this printer will use trace amounts of color ink with B&W printing jobs. I planned on saving the colored ink for printing photos; instead it is wasted on making my black & white print jobs slightly pink, blue or yellow. The “Black & White copies” option is very misleading. What’s worse is if the ink runs out of any of the ink cartilages, this printer won’t allow you to bypass replacing the cartilages and continue printing without it. If you remove the empty tank, the printer is unusable. You will be forced into continuously replacing cartilages whether you print in color or not. I was thankful to still have my old printer in the garage; otherwise I would not have been able to print my final paper. This is frustrating as all get out!
Pros: durable, sharp appearence
Cons: Slow Print Speed, High Ink Consumption, no true color saving option, can not bypass replacing color cartilages., no true blak and white printing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
