First Canon Printer - Love It!
on October 22, 2011

This is my first Canon printer, and I love it. I did a lot of research before purchasing this and am extremely happy with this printer. I have used and am still using Canon cameras (I have 3 as of this writing!), but have always been leary about switching the brand of printer I use simply because I had been using another company's printers for years and years. I am so glad I switched!
The photos printed from this printer are some of the most vivid and clearest pictures I have ever seen from a printer in this price range. If I didn't know better, I'd say the pictures were developed or printed professionally. The colors are beautiful, and the prints are clear and crisp.
I also the fax almost on a daily basis and have had no problems whatsoever. I have had no problems with copying, nor pritning text documents. The copies come out clear, and the text documents which are printed directly from my computer are also always clear and look very professional, even when I print in draft mode.
The wireless setup was extremely easy and connected with my computer almost immediately with no problems whatsoever.
To the preson nicknamed "printerreview:" if your documents are not printing in the order you wish, then it is your settings, not the printer itself, that is causing the pages to be out of order. The printer is only doing what you tell it to do. There is more than one place where you can change that setting, so you might want to read the manual and check all your settings, including those on the printer itselff and the settings in the printer software. Also, regarding your paper being fed through 2 or 3 pages at a time, the quality of your paper has a lot to do with it. The cheaper the paper you use, the more likely it is that the printer will grab 2 or more pieces at a time I use paper made specifically for inkjet printers, not "generic" paper that is made to be used by copy machines and/or laser printers. It makes a huge difference.
You won't be disappointed if you buy this printer!
Pros: Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use

Great Product, minor issues

My PC technician found this machine for me. I really love it, the quality is amazing, except that it is designed for printing photos. I do not print a lot of photos, so when I want to print a book cover on a heavy material in the photo paper feeder, I have to make sure to convert the doc to a photo file, so the machine can find it. Also, the glass plate should be repositioned so the paper is in the correct placement.Turn it around, my old machine had the front right corner set -up. The black placement guides and the rear-left corner placement are all backwards. I can't see the marks back there without shining a light. When I scan a document, it shows up moved off center from one edge. You guys really should fix this.
The manual is O.K, but not great. It tells you what screen page to go to, but not how to get to that page.
The rubber under the scanner cover is sagging.
The machine likes to feed an extra sheet of blank paper very often.
I love this machine, but it's not perfect.
Pros: great print quality, lots of functions, love the display, better than my old machine
Cons: re-design of scanner platen needed., extra paper feeds out, there's a learning curve to using it

Set-up a breeze!

So far - great experience. We have only owned MX882 for 2 days so I can only speak to the setup. I read the manual first, then followed the directions page by page. Everything works with no glitches. PC running windows XP connected to netgear older router, used wireless settings with long pass phrase, connects first time to new laptop with windows 7. Fax is connected to answering machine. I have tested all functions and everything is a go.
Plus, this was a replacement for a PIXMA MP830 that died and Canon's customer loyalty program discount made this an excellent value. Plus, tech support is US english speaking.
Now, lets see how long this lasts.
Pros: Easy Setup

Good all-around printer
on January 4, 2012

I needed a new printer and opted for Canon based on past experience with the brand. However, I wanted a different mode because I neither want nor need a FAXl but it was not available locally. Nonetheless, the MX882 did not disappoint.
The print quality is good although there is little to no difference between the "Standard" and "High" quality setting other than when "High" is selected the print process is noticeably slower. In two days I have printed almost 400 pages and ink consumption has been acceptable. My print job required using the duplex feature and was accomplished with only one instance of the printer grabbing two sheets. Again, much better than some other brands.
The price of ink is comparable to that for other brand printers and lower than some.
Start time is a bit slow but not as slow as that of the "other brand" printer it replaced.
Pros: canon
Cons: access to ink cartridges inconvenient, Large Footprint, scanned images not great

Great Printer , Horrible Site

It's a great printer. However, when you upgrade to a new PC under a new O/S, the download procedure on the website doesn't allow you to select the whole set of software for the printer, only one piece at a time. This is bad enough, then it forces you to re-ID the printer model each time.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, fast print speed
Cons: bad support site, consumes a lot of ink

Don't be misled about iPhone printing!!

This is a great printer. We had an MX 860 before, loved it. But the MX 882 does NOT print from an iPhone/iPad/iPod. It only prints photos. It is not recognized by other apps as an AirPrint printer. Still worth it, printing from the mobile device is really a luxury and not a necessity.
Pros: Easy Setup, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint, doesn't really support iphone/ipad printing

MX882 great printer

I had a Canon MP560 that was great, but i needed the fax, also the ADF so i bought the MX882. What a printer, it was easy to set up, I set it on the quite mode and it's quite, i have to look to see if it's printing, bordless pictures printed in less than 20 seconds and looked like they came from a pro. lab, the fax works like it should, dulpex printing is a breeze. I don't know why some people are giving this printer a 1 star it is a 5 star maybe they should read the directions better. This printer is not an ink hog like some people say. I would buy the MX882 again if i had to.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
