Uses ink up quickly

I replaced my iP3500 with the MX882. The MX882 uses twice as much ink as the iP3500. The MX882 ink cartridges are 40% smaller than the iP3500 ink cartridges yet they cost 10% more, what a rip off.
Pros: Easy Setup, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Dull Tones & Colors, High Ink Consumption
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Couldn't Be Happier!!

I wasn't really in the market to purchase a new printer, but after seeing what this was(online) and the price I could get it for, it was an instant decision. I've always loved Canon products and havehad several pixma printers in the past and still own a PowerShot SX10is, which is way more of a camera than I need. But a great price and the quality also sold me on that. The MX882 is a bit large but what it can do is pretty impressive. Haven't used the fax yet but nice knowing I have it if needed. Picture prints were Great and reprints off a scan, I could hardly tell the difference. Does use a bit of ink though, but if you want something that does it all it's going to do that. My last MP160 was good with ink but all I did was copy. Only problems I had was with set-up and that was due to my desktop needing to be recovered, Too many problems. But my fairly new laptop with Win.7 installed instantly without me even knowing while I was running the CD to install in my desktop. That's pretty impressive. Over all it does take a minute or so to warm up, but as soon as it gets going, it practically spits the copies out to you. Like the bottom tray paper feed but along with the rear feeder that you raise to feed copy medium into, they could have been constructed a little bit stronger. But then again you seldom use them. Customer service/technical help went way over the top as far as helping me try to get it going. This young lady that helped me, Sheila, stayed with me for over two hours trying every possibility we could think of to get me and my MX882 started up until it came down to being my Computer that was causing the problems. She was without a doubt the best experience Ive ever had with any customer service personal I've ever dealt with. Plus she spoke perfect English, if you catch my drift. Thanks to Canon, I think I have a Printer/All-in-one that will keep me happy for many years.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use, best purchase ever!!!
Cons: Large Footprint

Great Quality, uses too much ink

While the printer has great quality in its output, the scanning, fax and copy features also work nicely. A bit complicated to setup. Originally setup using wireless, but then wireless stopped working without any other changes on my pc. Had to reconfigure via USB so now can't use wireless. It would be nice to be able to use both at the same time. It uses WAY TOO MUCH ink! I have used 10 main black tanks, about 6 each of the cyan/magenta/yellow and 3 of the small black, even tho most of my printing is black and white documents and I have rarely printed any pictures. Too many ink cleaning cycles, even while in process of printing. Printing cost much higher compared to my old PIXMA 4000. Disappointed that there has been no update to allow me to print from my smartphone or tablet.
Pros: reliable, Small Footprint, High Quality Output, love duplex printing
Cons: High Ink Consumption, no update for iphone/ipad doc printing, wireless printing unstable

Poor Quality

The Pixma MX882 has a reasonably good feature set and the features it has have worked pretty well for me.
The problem is that the ink tanks are Lilliputian-sized and are empty in the blink of eye. Replacements cost a fortune for what they are!
To top it off, the print head got clogged after only a couple of years of very light usage. The pigment black nozzles were completely plugged and no cleaning solution or technique including ultrasonic cleaning would unblock them.
A new print head also costs a bundle (what a surprise!) and is within a few dollars of the cost of a brand new all-in-one printer made by a different manufacturer. So off to the recycling center goes the Pixma MX882.
Cons: Difficult Setup, unreliable, thimble-sized ink tanks, expensive ink, expensive print head replacement

Mostly Great Device

The over design of this device is quite exceptional. It is well made and the output is exceptional. Where this product falls short is in software and connectivity. I frequently cannot see my computer from the printer for scanning. Also, the computer can sometimes cannot find the printer. After a reset of the printer all seems to somehow work. The installation software is cumbersome and confusing. If Canon can get the software folks in their company to get on the same page as their hardware guys they could own the home multifunction market.
Pros: Compact Design, Lightweight/Portable, physical design & astetics
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup

So Disappointed

I was looking forward to replacing my old dinosaur printer made by another brand with a canon printer. I had read many reviews and was certain I was purchasing a quality product. This printer uses ink like crazy. You have to wait at least five minutes before use as it does its back and forth thing. The document feeder gets jammed by only one sheet of paper. The fax stopped being able to send to the one number I need it to.I am disabled with many rare medical conditions and purchased this mainly for printing medical records, faxing things to my care team, and occasionally scanning. what a let down. Unfortunately, I have been having a tough last year and now its to late to even try to get it replaced under warranty. Even if the other functions were working I can't afford to keep replacing ink so it will have to be sent to recycling. What a shame.
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Low Quality Output, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
